Vanessa Hudgens recalls feeling ‘fat’ after ‘rude’ pregnancy speculation following her bachelorette party: ‘I’m sorry, I don’t wear Spanx every day’

Vanessa Hudgens revealed that ‘rude’ pregnancy speculation from fans after her 2023 hen do made her feel ‘fat’.

The High School Musical star, 35, discussed how the comments detracted from what was supposed to be ‘the happiest’ time in her life, in the latest episode of the She turns podcast.

At the time, the actress was enjoying an outing with friends in Aspen ahead of her wedding to her now-husband Cole Tucker, 27, but comments on the video she shared of the festivities focused mainly on whether she was pregnant.

“I feel like I literally had a run-in with the public who took control of their opinion of me in a way that was disrespectful,” Austin Butler’s ex said.

‘I went out on my bachelorette party and posted a video of me and there are all these comments like, “Oh my god. You’re pregnant.” And I think: that’s so rude. I’m sorry, I don’t wear Spanx every day and I’m a real woman and I have a real body.’

She added, “I’m literally celebrating one of the happiest times of my life, and you guys are making me feel fat. That is amazing. Thank you.’

Hudgens went on to discuss “the four agreements” that women must adhere to.

“One is not to make assumptions… in all aspects of life, but especially not about other women’s bodies,” she stated.

“We deal so much with other people trying to control our bodies, let’s not make assumptions about other women’s bodies too.”

In the original video from her bachelorette party, Vanessa wore a lot of baggy clothes, with many of her followers quick to ask if she was pregnant in the comments section.

But Vanessa didn’t take kindly to the speculation as she replied: “(eyeroll emoji) not pregnant so y’all can stop.”

There were many commenters who concluded that she was pregnant with the baseball player, as one wrote ‘omg she is pregnant’ and another said ‘she is indeed pregnant.’

Others defended Vanessa as one said: ‘For those commenting on pregnancy is rude. We are human! She’s happy, so please don’t comment about her body if you don’t want someone to ask you.”

Vanessa’s video post included several fun clips from the trip with her friends, including one of her wearing a white silk wedding dress and a long coat.

A telltale sign that should have proven to her followers that she isn’t pregnant is that she threw a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne in the clip.

Hudgens met Cole during a Zoom meditation session during lockdown.

She tied the knot with an MLB player last December after three years of dating.

Elsewhere on the podcast, Vanessa shared that she was “grateful” for her split from Dune star Austin Butler, 32, when she met her forever person shortly after: her husband Cole.

Hudgens split and Butler split in 2020 after almost 10 years together.

As painful as her breakup with Butler was at the time, she can now reframe the breakup as something positive, as she began a relationship with her current husband not long after.

“I feel like my last breakup has obviously catapulted me to a very special place. You pushed me to the right person!

‘Which I am so grateful for! Because he’s just the most supportive, real, understanding human being I’ve ever met.”

Butler has now also moved on and entered into a relationship with model Kaia Gerber.

Vanessa’s comment about her ex came after she was asked how certain setbacks led to her current success: “I feel like a lot of my character was built through my divorces,” she said.

“Also, the tenacity that I have, I think, comes from the fact that I started my career at such a young age and dealt with so much rejection, that you really have to build a very strong backbone to be able to keep doing it like everyone else you say no. That gives a lot of character.’
