Urologist convicted of patient sex abuse, including of minors

NEW YORK — A New York-area doctor was convicted Wednesday of years of sexually abusing multiple patients, including four children.

Darius A. Paduch of North Bergen, New Jersey, was convicted by a jury in Manhattan federal court of all 11 charges involving seven patients.

According to the allegations in the verdict sheet, his victims included four men who were initially attacked before reaching adulthood because he sexually assaulted multiple male patients between 2015 and 2019. According to the indictment, Paduch had worked in New York as a practicing urologist from 2003 to 2023. specializing in male reproductive health.

The doctor had claimed that some of his methods of touching patients were medically necessary, although the complaint said they were for his own sexual gratification.

Sentencing was scheduled for August 22 after he was convicted of charges including enticing or coercing individuals to travel in interstate commerce to engage in sexual activity and using an interstate facility to induce or coerce children to engage in sexual activity .

After the sentencing, Paduch’s lawyers said in a statement: “Dr. Darius Paduch has maintained his innocence since the beginning of this case. He maintains this to this day and we will continue to fight for him. We will file post-trial motions and appeals and seek all available relief.”

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams praised the verdict, saying, “Paduch used his position of trust as a physician for his own perverse gratification.”

He added: “For years, patients in need of medical care, including many children, left his office as victims.”
