An officer was hit by a car that police were trying to stop on a rural highway. The driver was arrested and is expected to face serious charges.

A police helicopter followed the car for 45 minutes until it could be pulled over, with the driver arrested near the highway about 1 mile north of Hallett.
SA Police say the 43-year-old Victorian man is expected to face serious charges at the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
His vehicle has been seized for forensic examination and crash investigators have examined the scene of the incident and will assist detectives in their investigation.
