Uber Eats customer goes hungry after receiving empty burger box from McDonald’s – here’s why it happend

An Uber Eats customer has been left both furious and hungry after an apparent glitch in the app left her with an empty box delivered to her from McDonald’s.

Mel had ordered a Double Big Mac and was ready to enjoy her meal when it was delivered to her front door.

However, she was stunned to discover that the hamburger box was completely empty.

A frustrated Mel took to Facebook and revealed the cause was a technical error.

“There was a glitch in the Uber Eats app that somehow deselected every ingredient,” she wrote.

“The Macca staff must have thought I was done and just sent me an empty box.”

The receipt states that the eight ingredients that make up a Double Big Mac are all deselected, including the meat patty and bun.

Yet one social media felt she was still being misled by one ingredient.

“Technically, there should have been one patty in the box. There are two all-beef patties and the instructions only remove one,” they wrote.

Because the customer ordered a Double Big Mac, there should have been three more, while the normal burger has four.

A similar incident occurred in March when a customer used a food delivery app to order from a McDonald’s in Perth’s Maylands. Yahoo reported.

A pregnant customer opened her breakfast delivery to find nothing inside but an empty package, with an explanation attached.

‘Sausage egg contains egg, muffins, sausage and cheese. It’s a no for everything so we just gave the wrapper,” it said.

The woman’s friend said they never ordered an Egg McMuffin.

He said the delivery had given him a good laugh and posted a photo of the handwritten note stuck to the McDonald’s bag on social media, “but hell hath no fury like a pregnant woman.”

A similar incident occurred again in March when Uber Eats delivered a McDonald’s order to a store in Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

Ten-year-old boys sleeping in after their rugby match were disappointed when they were also given empty boxes after yet another apparent glitch.

The customer, Lorraine, said Uber Eats issued a refund straight away, but the kids were hungry after playing a rugby league match and had only delivered ten nuggets and chips to share - and some bacon (pictured on receipt)

The receipt stated that a triple cheeseburger was ordered, but all items were disabled and the customers only received an empty box.

However, the double cheeseburger that had bacon added arrived with only bacon in the box as all other ingredients had also been eliminated.

Customer Lorraine told Daily Mail Australia she immediately contacted Uber Eats.

“The problem was they wanted me to show them a photo of the missing items, but how can you show a photo of something that never arrived?” she said.

Luckily, after sending a photo of the receipt, Uber refunded her money.

‘It’s just ridiculous. I understand if there is a problem with the app or even if a mistake has been made on our end – but why do employees pack an empty box – and still charge full price?’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted McDonald’s and Uber Eats for comment.
