Violent night as two people are injured in separate shootings minutes apart in the same suburb

Robbers have shot a man and a driver opened fire on a car full of people in separate incidents within minutes of each other south of Brisbane.

The shootings happened barely half an hour apart in a neighboring suburb of Logan on Thursday evening, with the man rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Police said five people – including three teenagers – were in a car that was shot at in Logan Reserve.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nicola Brown said an altercation took place at around 7pm after another motorist drove erratically before pulling a gun on the car full of people.

“That driving escalated into an incident in which an unknown male, driving a silver Mitsubishi Lancer, fired a shot into the window of the victim’s vehicle,” she told reporters on Friday.

No one was injured.

About 40 minutes later, police said a 23-year-old man was shot in the neck after a group of people committed a violent robbery in the Logan area.

The group went to a Park Ridge property with a firearm and demanded property from the resident, police said.

He was taken to hospital where he is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The group left with a small number of items. Det Sen Sergeant Brown said: ‘However, I don’t think they got away with what they were going for as a result of the shot fired.’

Police do not yet have any suspects or a motive for the robbery, she said.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact police.

“Having unlawful firearms in the suburbs simply will not be tolerated,” Brigadier General Brown said.
