Donald Trump has violated a gag order imposed on him by a federal judge, his former White House lawyer Ty Cobb said, predicting the former president will spend a night or a weekend in jail.
US District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Sunday re-imposed a silence order sought by prosecutors from Special Counsel Jack Smith in the January 6 case heard in Washington DC.
She had put the case on hold for nine days after Trump’s lawyers rejected the demands, saying they violated his right to free speech, and Trump was again banned from targeting witnesses, prosecutors or court officials in the case.
Within hours, Trump once again went after the “radical left right,” calling her a “REAL TRUMP HATER” in posts on his Truth Social website.

Cobb, who worked in the Trump White House during the Mueller investigation in 2017 and 2018, noted that another judge, Arthur Engoron, fined Trump $10,000 for violating a separate silence order in a case in New York who forbids him from going to court. staff.
“I think Judge Chutkan wisely allowed Trump to convince her to extend the gag order. “She concluded based on his behavior this week not to do that,” he said told CNN Tuesday night. “And I think she’s going to come in with a much harsher sentence and ultimately I think he’s going to spend a night or a weekend in jail,” he predicted.
“I think that’s what it takes to stop him,” Cobb concluded.
Such an unprecedented step, if imposed by a judge, would mark yet another historic first during an election campaign in which the former president faces four criminal trials and 91 individual charges as he leads all Republicans in the primaries.
Cobb was asked about Trump’s attacks on former Attorney General Bill Barr, who could be a witness in the case and who appeared before the House committee on Jan. 6, testifying that some of Trump’s claims of election fraud were ‘bull****’.
“I called Bill Barr stupid, weak, slow, lethargic, cowardly and lazy, a RINO who couldn’t do his job,” Trump wrote. “He just didn’t want to be impeached, which is what the radical left crazies were preparing to do,” he said, after previously accusing Barr of not coming forward with his election fraud claims out of fear.
“I was tough on him in the White House for a reason, so now this idiot is saying about me, to get revenge, ‘his verbal skills are limited.’ Well, that’s one I haven’t heard before. Tell that to by far the largest political crowds in the history of politics. Bill Barr is a LOSER!’

Trump was also furious about the reimposition of the order and the judge. ‘RADIC LEFT JUDGE IS TAKING AWAY MY RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH TO HELP COOKED JOE BIDEN AND HIS THIRD WORLD ELECTION INTERFERENCE CAM. As good as this sounds, it won’t work!’ He wrote.
Judge Tanya Chutkan has re-imposed a gag order banning Trump from targeting potential witnesses or court personnel
On Monday, he accused Chutkan of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The judge has repeatedly told Trump’s lawyers that he would treat him like any other criminal defendant.
“The Obama-appointed federal judge in DC, a TRUE TRUMP HATER, is unable to give me a fair trial. Her hatred of President DONALD J. TRUMP is so great that she has been diagnosed with a severe and incurable case of TRUMP DISRUPTION SYNDROME!!!” the former president wrote.
Asked whether Trump had already violated the gag order, Cobb replied: “Yes.”
‘It’s a simple assignment… it’s a short paragraph. But it prohibits him from targeting any foreseeable witness or the content of their testimony, and he clearly has done so.
Trump labeled Chutkan a ‘radical left-wing judge’
In weighing the order, Judge Chutkan gave more leeway in general attacks on the Justice Department
Trump’s lawyers have argued that his First Amendment rights are violated by the silence order. Chutkan said Trump is a criminal defendant awaiting trial under conditions of release
Trump has also called prosecutors “thugs,” language he has used against Jack Smith in the past
Trump called the gag order ‘unthinkable’
“Even when it was suspended, he did it regarding Ellis, Chesebro, Powell and Meadows. And he will continue to do so until he elicits a punishment far greater than he has received thus far in the trial,” he said. He was referring to former Trump lawyers Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell, and Ken Chesebro, who have all pleaded guilty in a separate case in Georgia, and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, who reportedly struck an immunity deal with Smith’s accusers.
Trump has also been accused of witness intimidation after posting about Meadows following the ABC report that he had reached an immunity deal.
I don’t think Mark Meadows would lie about the Rigged and Stollen (sic) 2020 presidential election just because he was given IMMUNITY from prosecution (PRESECTION!) by the deranged prosecutor, Jack Smith,” Trump wrote in typically idiosyncratic style.
“Some people would make that deal, but they are weaklings and cowards, and so bad for the future of our failing nation. I don’t think Mark Meadows is one of them, but who really knows?’ Trump wrote.
