When asked about a hypothetical matchup between Biden and DeSantis, respondents favored the incumbent president 43 to 41 percent.

In a hypothetical matchup between Biden and Trump, Biden has a 44-41 percent lead.

The poll was conducted March 17-19, just as news broke that Trump expects to be indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Some 3,400 likely Republican primary voters responded, and the poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

The Trump world has consistently launched attacks on DeSantis after his reluctance to come to the former president’s defense following news of his impending impeachment.

DeSantis on Monday, after a two-day delay, attacked the investigation of Republican rival Trump. The Manhattan prosecutor has been investigating the ‘silent’ payment of $130,000 to Stormy Daniels. Trump reimbursed former fixer Michael Cohen for the payments.

DeSantis said he did not know “what it goes into to pay a porn star money to ensure silence about some kind of alleged affair,” then accused Bragg of ignoring New York’s rising crime.

At the same time, he repeated some of Trump’s attacks, calling Bragg a “Soros-funded prosecutor,” a reference to a $1 million donation the billionaire gave to Color of Change during Bragg’s 2021 election.

“What I can talk about is if you have a prosecutor who ignores the crimes that happen every day in their jurisdiction, and chooses to go back many, many years, to try to use something about secret porn star payments,” DeSantis said , bringing up the merits of the case for the second time.

“You know, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda and arming the office,” he added.

Trump took notice of the dig into his silent money payout and raged at Truth Social: ‘Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about the FALSE ALLEGATIONS and FALSE STORIES at some point in the future, as he gets older, wiser and best known when unfairly and illegally attacked. by a woman, even classmates who are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he’ll want to fight these misfits like me!

DeSantis finally laid out the differences between himself and Trump in an interview with Piers Morgan published Tuesday.

‘Well, I think there are a few things. The COVID approach was different. He would have fired someone like Fauci. I think he got too big for his pants, and I think he did a lot of damage.

‘I also think that just in terms of my leadership approach, I have people in government who have the people’s agenda and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda and you’re gone. We’re just not going to have that. So I think the way we run government is not a daily drama, we focus on the big picture and we put points on the blackboard and I think that’s a very important thing.’
