Donald Trump accused his rival Nikki Haley of seeking a job by staying in the Republican primaries even though she was trailing by more than 50 percent nationally and facing extremely difficult terrain after her home state of South Carolina.
‘Well, I think (Nikki Haley‘s) has an ego or something – from which she gets a lot of money Democrats,” the former president said in a radio interview just three days before the state’s primaries.
He accused Democratic donors of supporting her candidacy to weaken him The Charlie James Show on News/Talk 98.9 WORD in South Carolina.
“The Democrats are funding her because the longer she stays here, she makes commercials that are just ridiculous. And she gets the money from the Democrats. Republicans don’t fund her…I’m not a big fan of her,” Trump said.
Donald Trump accused Nikki Haley of having an “ego” and accused her of “getting a job” and taking campaign contributions from Democrats
He spoke after financial disclosures showed Haley had raised $11.5 million in July — $2.5 million more than the undisputed frontrunner, while refusing to back down and repeatedly referring to Biden and Trump as “two 80-year-olds.” (Trump is 77). A pro-Haley Super PAC has raised $12 million, giving it the financial resources to expand beyond South Carolina to a collection of states holding primaries on Super Tuesday in March.
Trump’s campaign raised $8.8 million, while a pro-Trump super PAC raised $7.3 million and another super PAC raised $5 million, with much of it going to legal fees in his fight against multiple criminal charges charges.
Trump accused his former UN ambassador and former South Carolina governor of ‘very bad things for the Republican Party,” and claimed, “At this point I don’t care if she stays home.’
‘She gets very few votes. And if you look Great Tuesday, where you have a large number of states, I am at 90% and they are at 8% and even less than that. So I don’t know exactly what she does. Maybe she’s looking for a job in some form CNN or MSDNC, you know, she may be looking for something,” Trump said.
Haley said Trump and the “elites” will not take her out of the race
Trump leads by more than 20 points in Haley’s home state
Trump led Haley 75 percent to 17 percent in the latest RealClearPolitics average. In recent polls, he led her in South Carolina by more than 20 points, and his lead is even wider in many states holding primaries on Super Tuesday on March 5.
Haley has stepped up her attacks on Trump and refuses to fold. His ally Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) has repeatedly called on Haley to leave the race.
Haley shows no signs of coming out or toning down her attacks, despite her camp being unable to pinpoint a single state where she can beat Trump.
Haley told ABC’s Good Morning America that she would not let Trump or the “elites” force her out of the race.
“I’m not going to let the experts tell me to get out. I’m not going to let Donald Trump tell me to get out. I won’t let the political elite tell me to leave. go away,” later adding, “I could leave whenever I wanted,” she said.
That will happen even if she loses her home state, as polls show. If she loses: “It doesn’t sting because for me, I know how much love the South Carolinans have for me.”
She also continued to hammer Trump for spending millions on legal fees, aided by super PACs backing him.
‘It is not normal to mock members of the military. Spending $50 million in campaign contributions on personal lawsuits is not normal. It is not normal to side with a tyrant and a dictator who kills his political opponents because of allies who supported us after September 11. None of this is normal,” she said.
