Trump posts depraved fake Twitter Spaces video of Hitler, George Soros and the devil crushing Ron’s announcement: Dirty campaign begins — as DeSantis rakes in $1 million in donations after shaky launch
- Donald Trump is not backing down from his sordid attacks on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
- An AI-generated video parodied DeSantis’ voice as he mocked his campaign’s glitchy kickoff on Twitter Spaces
- The Twitter Spaces feature crashed continuously during the announcement, leading the governor to joke that he had “broken the internet”
Donald Trump kicked off what is sure to be an abusive campaign by posting a video parody of Ron DeSantis’ glitchy Twitter Spaces campaign launch that clearly used an AI-generated voice to mock Florida’s governor.
The video was posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform along with a dozen other attacks against DeSantis as he announced his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential race.
The two-minute clip poked fun at Twitter Spaces constantly crashing while trying to strike up a conversation with DeSantis and the platform’s CEO, Elon Musk. At some points the audio cut in and out, revealing what was being said about the faulty and chaotic virtual event.
Despite the rocky start, DeSantis pulled in $1 million in donations in the first hour of his stormy campaign launch.
“Everyone just shut up so I can make my announcement, okay?” says DeSantis’s voice at one point during the parody video as multiple voices talk over each other.

Later, the voice impersonating Florida’s governor says, “Would you please shut up already?” I’m running for goddamned president, okay?’
‘Yes, we actually already knew that’, everyone responds.
The parody featured a range of figures Trump dislikes, including billionaire George Soros and former Vice President Dick Cheney, who can be heard coughing in the AI-generated video.
It also included numbers that made it even clearer that the video was fake – like the devil and Adolf Hitler.
Trump’s parody was overly exaggerated, but still reminiscent of how the launch went off the rails from the start.
Musk at one point said the “servers were tense” and the host blamed the number of people tuning in, which he said was a “good thing.”
‘Just try to get it going’, listeners could hear when it became clear that the frustration was growing.
Moderator David Sacks, a tech entrepreneur close to Musk, started the conversation by claiming that DeSantis was doing a “social media first” by “making history” with the announcement.
However, the event is more likely to be remembered for its series of glitches.
DeSantis filed paperwork Wednesday afternoon to make his bid for president official. Hours later, he would begin his campaign by affirming his collaboration with Musk and other conservative lawmakers, politicians and figures.
This included the likes of Second Amendment Hawk and conservative radio host Dana Loesch and Rep. Thomas Massie, who boasted that he was the first member of Congress to own a Tesla and is one of five DeSantis has already endorsed.
Now officially entering the 2024 race, the governor will kick off the campaign with a tour of the early primary contest states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
The campaign’s official launch event will take place on Tuesday, May 30 in Des Moines, Iowa – followed by a swing through four other Iowa cities the next day. On June 2, DeSantis heads to four New Hampshire cities, and the first campaign swing for Florida governor ends this Friday in South Carolina.
