Trump campaign rips Kamala Harris for going on ‘Saturday Night Leftist’ and ‘cosplaying with her elitist friends’

Donald Trump’s campaign accused Kamala Harris of “cosplaying” with her “elite friends” by going on Saturday Night Live three days before the 2024 presidential election.

Trump’s communications director said in a statement to DailyMail.com that Harris goes on shows like SNL because she has “nothing of substance to offer Americans” in her bid to become president.

Vice President Harris’ plane made an unannounced stop in New York City for the Democratic president on Saturday, hoping to make a surprise cameo on the NBC sketch show.

“Kamala Harris has nothing of substance to offer the American people, so that’s why she’s living out her twisted fantasy by cosplaying with her elitist friends on Saturday Night Leftists while her campaign fades into obscurity,” said Steven Cheung.

“Over the past four years, Kamala’s destructive policies have led to unprecedented misery and pain for all Americans,” he continued. “She broke it, and President Trump will fix it.”

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for wasting valuable time in the days before the 2024 presidential election by making a surprise cameo on NBC’s Saturday Night Live

Harris appears on the popular late-night show with just three days to go before the election, in an effort to reach millions of TV viewers even if it comes at the expense of another swing state event.

The VP has praised SNL veteran cast member Maya Rudolph, who was cast to play Harris after President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid.

The visit is the latest in a long line of appearances by presidential candidates on the show, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

It also comes after Trump also visited the Big Apple last weekend for a huge rally at Madison Square Garden.

The surprise visit to New York came during the final rounds of the campaign, when travel schedules sometimes reveal where a candidate is performing best.

Both candidates held rallies earlier Saturday in the critical swing state of North Carolina, where polls have left the race deadlocked.

Trump also took the stage in Virginia, where he is trailing in the polls. And he ends the day with a meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In retrospect, there were some clear signs that preparations had been made. Harris had just two events on Saturday, one in Atlanta and one in Charlotte, at a time when campaigns are blanketing swing states with candidates and surrogates.

Harris meticulously kept to her schedule as she moved from city to city. It wasn’t until she was in the air that advisers told the press pool traveling with Harris that she would be going to New York — and even then they wouldn’t say why.

Significantly, seats were set aside for four photographers on board Air Force 2, a Boeing 757. The campaign avoided directly confirming its plans on the record, although it became clear as the candidate drove from New York’s LaGuardia airport to Rockefeller Center, where NBC has its studios and the show is filmed.

Earlier this week, Harris failed to close an interview with popular podcaster Joe Rogan – another platform to reach the masses.

He interviewed Donald Trump just over a week ago and racked up ratings of more than 17 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.

SNL gets fewer than five million views per episode, so her performance tonight will reach significantly fewer Americans than a Rogan sit-down would have, albeit perhaps on more favorable ground.

Rogan confirmed that Harris declined to appear on his podcast due to scheduling conflicts and a clash over how long the interview would last.

The podcast host opened up about why the “very difficult” VP had failed to appear on his hit show with 14 million subscribers and 18 million YouTube followers.

Campaign advisers returned mid-flight to inform the press that she would be stopping in New York

Last month, Saturday Night Live fans were up in arms over a skit that they said was intended to save Kamala Harris’ face following her “disastrous” interview with Bret Baier of Fox News.

The sketch saw a recently exonerated Alec Baldwin take on the role of Baier in a surprise appearance.

The cold opening included several instances in which Baldwin’s Baier interrupted Rudolph and portrayed the questions of personality as combative.

However, several onlookers online remained unconvinced, claiming that the display was a lame attempt to elicit a more favorable verdict from the court of public opinion.

“Well, Kamala is sinking in the polls, so a desperate @nbcsnl pulled out his big ‘guns,’” wrote one such user on X.

“Yes, that was @AlecBaldwin playing the Fox News journalist! Too early?’ they then asked, referring to the regular host’s recently concluded manslaughter case.

Earlier Saturday, Harris’ campaign advisers returned mid-flight after her rally in North Carolina to inform the press that she would be stopping in New York on her way to Detroit, Michigan.

Assistants initially did not immediately respond to questions about what she will be doing in NYC.

But Harris’ motorcade stopped at Rockefeller Center, where the famous SNL tapings are made, just before 8 p.m.

Harris still plans to head to Detroit after the surprising SNL diversion, where she has a morning meeting on Sunday.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are spending their final weekend on the campaign trail, with just three days left before what could be one of the closest elections in history.

More than 70 million Americans have already cast their votes, but the candidates are still trying to convince the eventual critical voters who could carry them to victory.

DailyMail.com’s polling partners JL Partners show Harris has the momentum to get into the sprint before November 5, with the race trending towards tossup territory.
