Transformers: Rise of the Beasts trailer finds Anthony Ramos fighting alongside the Autobots

Paramount Pictures unveiled the new trailer for their highly anticipated Transformers: Rise of the Beasts at the studio’s CinemaCon presentation on Thursday.

The film continues the studio’s lucrative Transformers franchise – which has grossed nearly $5 billion worldwide at the box office.

Set in 1994 – following the 2018 Bumblebee spin-off set in the 1980s – this new adventure follows two human characters – In the Heights star Anthony Ramos as Noah and Swarm star Dominique Fishback as Elena – as they team up with the Autobots.

The franchise mainstay Peter Cullen returns to voice the iconic Optimus Prime, with a slew of new stars joining the voice cast, including Pete Davidson as Mirage.

Other new voice actors include Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Airazor, Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal, Peter Dinklage as Scourge, John DiMaggio as Stratosphere, Cristo Fernandez as Wheeljack and MJ Rodriguez as Nightbird.

Mirage: Franchise mainstay Peter Cullen returns to voice the iconic Optimus Prime, with a slew of new stars joining the voice cast, including Pete Davidson as Mirage (above)

The trailer begins with the gorilla-transformer – Optimus Primal – swinging through the jungle, adding in voiceover, “For centuries our species has been hidden on Earth, but the darkness has found us again.”

We see Optimus Primal talking to his Autobot counterpart Optimus Prime saying, ‘Prime, this is about the fate of all living things. Unicron is coming.’

We get our first look at Fishback’s Elena, who sees the huge orange beam in the sky that Prime sees, as the film is revealed to be set in 1994 New York City.

Noah is seen getting into a car… as the radio displays the Autobots symbol and starts driving itself with him in it… which of course drives him crazy.

The car – a silver Porsche – shows some unique abilities – cloning itself while on the road, ripping off the police and letting it escape

The car speeds into an empty warehouse and knocks Noah off the driver’s seat, transforming into Mirage.

A frightened Noah grabs a pipe and twists it back, telling Mirage to back off, but Mirage replies, “Oh, I thought we were boys?”

Optimus Prime arrives at the warehouse and chides Mirage for “bringing a human in here” and picking up Noah.

‘I am nobody. I didn’t even see anything. I can’t even see anything right now,” says Noah as the trailer shows off more transformative action.

“This isn’t our war,” says Optimus Prime, though Airazor adds, “Optimus, we must trust each other to protect the home we all share,” as we see many of the other beastly Transformers.

Noah asks the Transformers how big Unicron could possibly be as Mirage enlightens him.

“Uh, he eats planets. So much bigger than a planet,” says Mirage, as we see a shot of Bumblebee jumping out of a military plane and firing his guns at many air enemies.

“In the end, everything you cared about will be consumed,” Scourge (Peter Dinklage) says, as Elena ponders, “Maybe there’s another way to save our house.”

Optimus Primal warns Prime, “You’ve never experienced anything like it,” while Prime replies, “Bring them on.”

The trailer ends with some action-packed shots of the Autobots in battle, before ending with a rather intriguing shot.

Mirage throws something at Noah and says, “Hey Noah, take the wheel,” and when Noah catches it, his hand begins to transform…

The film hits theaters on June 9, taking on Universal’s wide-release R-rated comedy Strays.

Stephen Caple Jr. (Creed II) directs from a script by Joby Harold (The Flash), Darnell Metayer (BMF), and Josh Peters (BMF).

The project is the seventh film in the Transformers franchise, followed by Transformers One from director Josh Cooley.

That project will be released in theaters on July 19, 2024, with several other Transformers movie projects in development.
