Tradie comes centimetres from ‘losing his manhood’ after mishap with a power tool

A tradesman has revealed the moment a part of a power tool broke off and got stuck in his trousers, narrowly missing his ‘manhood’.

Alastair Candlin, from Queensland, was using an angle grinder while working on a project at home on Monday when part of the metal disc broke and flew back towards his groin.

In a TikTok clip, the shocked tradie turned to the camera moments after it happened.

“When it broke, it happened so quickly, I was looking for where it went,” Mr Candlin told Ny Breaking Australia.

“When I looked down, I could see it in the last place I would want it to be,” he said.

Authorities have urged people working with angle grinders (pictured) to use a safety guard at all times to ensure they are protected in the event the disc on the machine breaks

Fortunately, the shard had only torn a small hole in his clothing.

Stunned viewers said the tradie was incredibly happy.

“Give this man a ticket,” one user wrote.

“Buy 10 and go to the casino guy!” said another.

But some commentators said he should be more careful.

“Who sits like that and uses a mill,” said someone.

Another wrote: ‘Things like this don’t happen when you use the guard.’

“Angle grinders, that’s why they come with guards,” a third added.

Mr Candlin said the disc was worn out even though it had not been long since he bought the machine.

“The disc on the mill was starting to get a little old and was at the end of its life,” he said.

Mr Candlin said he put the guard on the drive after the alarming incident.
