Townsville residents unveil unique tribute to Pink as Australia’s love affair with the American pop star continues

Pink completed the Australian leg of her Summer Carnival World Tour in Townsville, QLD, last month, and residents of the regional city paid a unique tribute to her.

As the American singer, 44, performed in the city on March 22 and 23, talented locals painted a huge mural of the singer in the city’s CBD.

The beautiful painting depicted the artist singing up a storm while having fun among pink palm trees and balloons.

Meanwhile, at Townsville Airport, huge pink cutouts of the singer hung in the arrivals hall to welcome her and her fans to the city.

Furthermore, a mountain overlooking the city was lit up with huge pink neon lights to mark the completion of Pink’s record-breaking Australian concerts in the regional city of Queensland.

The incredible tribute to the So What hitmaker showed residents of the mid-sized city (population 180,000) marking the global superstar performing there.

It comes after Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, shared a heartfelt message with her Australian fans after her Summer Carnival tour broke records Down Under.

The Pennsylvania native took to Instagram last month to thank her for two decades of support as she reflected on the massive success of her tour.

She talked about how her 2024 tour broke several Australian records, including ticket sales becoming the largest for any tour by a female artist in the country.

Pink admitted the huge achievement left her ‘lost for words’ as she described performing Down Under as a ‘privilege’.

She also shared a gallery of snaps from her family day out at a koala sanctuary with her husband Carey Hart and their two children, as she gave insight into her journey around Australia.

In her first post, Pink revealed that her record company and promoter Michael Coppel had thrown her a huge party to celebrate her record-breaking tour, days before her final show.

She shared a smiling photo of herself with her manager Roger Davies and Michael as they presented her with a special piece of art to celebrate her success.

The artwork, which looked like a concert ticket, documented her years of touring Australia and recognized her ‘unbreakable bond’ with her fans Down Under.

She was overwhelmed by her fans and revealed that she is the first singer to play twenty stadium shows in Australia and New Zealand in one tour and sell more than 3.1 million tickets.
