Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder after coming down with severe abdominal pain, the club revealed on Wednesday.
The Spurs boss has been diagnosed with cholecystitis, a condition that causes redness and inflammation of the gallbladder, and will return to managerial duties after a “recovery period” following surgery.
In a statement on Wednesday, the north London club said: “Antonio Conte recently fell ill with severe abdominal pain.

“Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will undergo surgery today to remove his gallbladder and will return after a recovery period.

As a result of his upcoming surgery, Conte’s presence on the bench on Sunday is now in doubt, with Tottenham preparing to face champions Manchester City in north London.
