Grim update on toddler Evelyn hit by a refrigeration truck at Browns Plains as she was being pushed in a stroller by her mum
A toddler has been placed in an induced coma as she continues to fight for her life after being hit by a refrigerated truck in a horror accident at a junction.
Evelyn was hit while being pushed by her mother in a pram across a traffic light crossing at Browns Plains, south of Brisbane, on Thursday.
Paramedics rushed to the intersection of Browns Plains Rd and Webber Dr at 8.40am to discover the three-year-old toddler had suffered serious head injuries.
The child’s great-grandmother revealed that Evelyn is now in an induced coma.

“Our great-granddaughter… she is in a medically induced coma,” she shared on social media.
“Thank you to QPS and the ambulance service and everyone who stopped to help.”
Her 28-year-old mother was not physically injured.
a GoFundMe has since also been founded by a friend to financially support the young family while their little girl recovers.
‘This page has been set up to help with their financial support to the family [Evelyn’s] “My father will have to take an unknown leave of absence to support his small family there,” it said.

“They also have an 8-year-old boy at home as well as any help that may be needed during Evelyn’s journey.”
It added that the toddler is currently undergoing surgery for her injuries.
“Any small donation will help the family at this time,” the friend wrote.
Nearly $500 had already been raised as of Friday morning.
Local business owner Lorraine Eggers said the intersection is known to be “quite dangerous.”
“I saw the handlebars of the stroller… I was driving to work when I saw them working on the baby,” she told the Courier mail.

‘We hear crashes, screeches and bangs all the time here; a year ago a car was T-boned in the same spot.
‘The road is problematic and that small intersection there is difficult to see. It is very busy and there are so many entrances coming in,” Ms Eggers added.
Queensland Police said there are no cameras at the intersection.
Witnesses or people with dashcam footage are urged to come forward.
