Savannah Guthrie left viewers seriously underwhelmed after returning to NBC on Wednesday morning after around-the-clock election coverage – with many shocked that she was still awake.
The 52-year-old broadcaster had hosted Tuesday’s episode of Today as usual before leading the network’s primetime coverage of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ race to the White House later that evening.
There was no rest for Savannah, who returned to screens in the early morning to announce that Trump had made a political comeback after being declared the winner of the 2024 US presidential election.
While introducing the special edition of Today with cohost Hoda Kotb, Savannah made a note by pointing out her trio of coffee cups, which no doubt fueled her energy.
Turning to viewers, she said, “Hello everyone. We’ll be back on the east coast at 8am, west at 5am.

“When you just wake up, a long election night that stretches into the morning.
“I have three cups of coffee ready here.”
She added, “The race is still too close to evoke some of those western battlegrounds in Michigan.
‘But the end result is clear. Donald Trump is once again president-elect, the 45th president about to return to the White House.”
Stunned viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, where they expressed their surprise at Savannah appearing back on their screens.
One said: ‘OMG Savannah, how are you still awake?’
Another wrote: ‘The amount of caffeine that must be pumping through Savannah Guthrie’s body is probably alarming. Girl has been killing it on TV for 24 hours. I roast my coffee on her.”
“I wake up, I see @SavannahGuthrie on TV… come home from work, she’s on TV. When I wake up today, she’s STILL on TV. Did she sleep!?’ said a third.
