Toby Keith remains recovering from stomach cancer battle: ‘It’s pretty debilitating’

Keith opened up about his recovery after undergoing surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy to fight cancer.

“It’s pretty debilitating to have to go through all of that, but as long as everything stays in order, we’re going to see something good down the road,” the Clinton, Okla., native said.

Keith last summer detailed his ongoing health battle, saying he needed time “to breathe, recover and relax.”

“I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemotherapy, radiation and surgery,” he said. ‘I really want to spend this time with my family. But I’ll see the fans sooner rather than later. I can not wait.

Before announcing his diagnosis, Keith played a February 2022 concert at the San Antonio Rodeo; a May 2022 concert in Daytona Beach, Florida at the Heroes Honor Festival; and his 2022 Toby Keith and Friends Golf Classic in his native Oklahoma.

Keith and his wife Tricia Lucas have been married since 1984 and are the parents of three adult children, daughters Shelley Covel Rowland, 42, and Krystal Keith, 36, and son Stelen Keith Covel, 25. They have several grandchildren.
