The actor, who showcased his musical chops in Wonka, worked with a vocal coach to capture Dylan’s unique voice.

In an October 2023 interview with GQChalamet said he was inspired by his Dune co-star Austin Butler’s work ethic in capturing Elvis’s voice for his Golden Globe-winning performance and by his accent as Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two.

The dedicated star turned to Butler’s team for his preparation as a Blowin’ in the Wind singer. “There’s a great dialect coach named Tim Monich, and vocal coach named Eric Vetro. Exercise coach named Polly Bennett. I just saw the way he was committed to it and realized I had to take it a step further.”

The actor, who spent three years preparing for the role, said he turned to the singer’s words for inspiration, reading and rereading the Like a Rolling Stone artist’s memoir, Chronicles: Volume One.

“You need your ability to imagine, your ability to observe and your ability to experience,” said the versatile actor, “and when any of these are compromised, your ability to create becomes one or affected in some other way.’

Indie thread shared a video of Chalamet and Monaca Barbaro, who stars as Joan Baez, singing a duet on April 16. He plays guitar and harmonica in the festival setting.

The goal, according to vocal coach Eric Vetro, is to “take all the characteristics of Dylan’s voice, his mannerisms and his speech patterns, and bring them into the music – so that when you hear Timothée doing the music, what you are.” really getting it is the essence of Bob Dylan.”

The film follows the rock legend’s journey from Minnesota to New York to meet Woody Guthrie during his memorable 1965 performance at the Newport Folk Festival, when he plugged in an electric guitar and made music history.

A Complete Unknown is expected to be released sometime in 2025.

Chalamet will be seen on location in Paterson, New Jersey on April 9
