Tia Mowry admits her twin sister Tamera is ‘not as accessible’ as she used to be

Tia Mowry admitted that her twin sister, Tamera Mowry, is “not as accessible” as she used to be — but she clarified that “all is well” between the two.

The 46-year-old Sister, Sister actress – who recently denied there is a rift between the siblings – opened up about Entertainment tonight Friday about their relationship.

It comes shortly after her comments on the new reality series Tia Mowry: My Next Act, in which she said that both she and Tamera were not “close.” However, she later clarified that she simply meant the physical distance between them.

“She’s a mother. Her children need her. She is also a wife. Her husband needs her,” the star said of Tamera.

“So she’s just not as accessible as she used to be. That’s why I compare it to how it used to be. But I literally spoke to her yesterday.”

Tia continued, “Everything is fine. I’m going to say what my cousin says, everything is fine. Period,” adding that her sibling is simply “in a different place” in her life.

‘She does her thing and I do my thing. It’s the same with my brother. We were making movies together, Seventeen Again,” the actress explained, referring to the 2000 film.

“I think the reason people go there a lot is because our careers started together,” Mowry said.

‘But just like any brother or sister, everyone is going to do their own thing, and you want that too. You want them to be individuals and fly solo. So there is nothing harmful in it.’

Tia and Tamera are known for starring in the sitcom series Sister, Sister, which aired from 1994 to 1999.

The pair collaborated on other projects, such as the film Twitches (2005), and its sequel two years later.

In 2011, the twin sisters starred in their own reality show called Tia and Tamera, which aired for a total of three seasons.

In Tia’s own reality series, which aired earlier this month in October, she commented on her relationship with Tamera.

“So she’s just not as accessible as she used to be. That’s why I compare it to how it used to be. But I literally spoke to her yesterday,” the actress said; seen in LA in 2023

Tia is mum to Cree, 13, and Cairo, six – who she shares with ex-husband Cory Hardrict.

An episode clip showed the star having an emotional moment after dropping her youngest child off at Hardrict.

During a confessional, the actress said, “Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.”

‘It’s times like this that I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and that I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.”

But late last month in September, Tia clarified this We weekly that she was talking about the physical distance between her and Tamera.

“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we get older, we all start our own families and their kids need to lean on that.”

Mowry continued, “We are beginning to take on new roles and responsibilities in our lives. That’s what it was all about.’

“Sometimes with these transitions in life you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as approachable as they used to be, and that’s not the case. It’s called life.’

‘I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We are close and have a beautiful bond,” Tia added.

‘But that was the point. It’s just how life unfolds, and that happens to a lot of families.”

Regarding the response to her comments, Tia simply explained that it was “taken out of context” and also “unsurprising.”

“When you’ve been in this industry for more than 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is.”

“All I can do is control my behavior and be the best person I can be, which we both are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that way all our lives. So why change that now?’

And earlier this month, Tia further denied that there is a rift between the siblings during an interview Today with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager while promoting her new We TV reality series.

“I’ve been in this industry for so long and I know some things can be taken out of context, so it is what it is.”

“As siblings, it is very normal that as we grow older we take on different roles and responsibilities,” Mowry added.

“There’s a bond that will always be there, and there’s so much love for each other and for each other, so sorry everyone,” Tia added; seen in 2012 in LA

“Some of those roles are being married and being a mother. Her children, they lean on her. My kids lean on me and that’s what I meant by that. That we’re just not that close.’

Tamera is also a mother to two children: Aden, 11, and Ariah, nine, whom she shares with husband Adam Housley.

Tia explained, “We don’t live in the same city, and it’s the same with my brother. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.”

“There’s a bond that will always be there, and there’s so much love for each other and for each other, so sorry everyone.”
