This Morning fans praise The Traitors icon Diane for her ‘Queen behaviour’ as she lets slip a swear on live TV and admits she’d want to be recruited if she could go back on show

Traitors fan favorite Diane has admitted she would play things differently if given the chance to return to the show.

The icon, 63, was the latest victim to be claimed by traitors Paul, Harry and Miles after the latter handed her the poisoned chalice, sealing her fate, in Friday’s episode.

However, she was not killed off straight away and the group all attended a ‘funeral’ where she was then dramatically eliminated from the show and placed in a coffin, leaving her son Ross devastated.

Fans were also heartbroken by the ‘death’ of the retired teacher, who had become a much-loved favourite, and hundreds of hilarious memes and jokes surfaced online, branding Diane a ‘gay icon’ and the country’s princess.

But after her departure, Diane said: ‘I’m fine with it being me, it would have been a lot worse if it had been Ross. The Traitors are getting rid of people who could have helped the Faithful, they are playing a blinding game.’

On Thursday she appeared on This Morning to discuss her dramatic departure and reveal her only regret on the show was not being recruited as a traitor.

As for what she would do differently if she had the chance to go back, she said, “I wouldn’t tell Miles that I could never be a traitor because I would like to be recruited.

“I still think I have to go in and establish myself as who I am as a person, be faithful, and then that would give me a secure base and then I could be a traitor.

“I didn’t think I could be, but the more of us got killed, I thought, ‘You know what? I can do this and get you!’

She had viewers at home in trouble at one point when she accidentally said ‘s**t’ during the live programme.

Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise Diane for her potty mouth, saying: ‘Diane swearing this morning is too funny.’

Another echoed: ‘Diane swore on live TV! Brilliant, it was a joy to watch about traitors, while a third added: ‘Not Diane swearing on live TV.’

A fourth declared: ‘Diane is only getting more iconic after that #thismorning interview,’ while someone else tweeted: ‘The newly crowned queen of television is now on #ThisMorning.’

And a sixth person said: ‘Not Diane who swore on #ThisMorning and didn’t even flinch. Queen behavior’.

Elsewhere in the interview, Diane opened up about the big twist in this series: that Ross was her son.

She admitted: ‘It was fantastic, we have memories for life. It was reassuring, but we made so many mistakes.

‘He had to say he was from Blackpool but on the first day he said he was from Lytham so I had to say Ireland. And then I was caught up in the whole series of lies. But Claudia said it was fine and everyone forgot about it.’

She also revealed that the pair had chosen not to reveal that they were related, and that Ross would continue the secret.

She added: “I think Ross would make a really good traitor. Obviously I want Ross to win. Or Molly or Evie.”

Diane continued: “We all stay in touch, very supportive. It’s a game, it doesn’t take away from who they are. You have to keep that in mind, it is mentally draining. You work for the same goal, fill the money pot and then kill each other.

‘It’s a fantastic game. I loved it and I would be there again in a heartbeat. Especially the missions.’

But she explained that she didn’t think she would be on the show, and that she had only done it as a joke and to prove herself to her children.

She recalled, “I signed up as a joke, just to show my kids that I could do it. One of them sent me the form and I had only watched one episode and I thought I could do it! But after that I just got through the rounds.”

On keeping the show a secret, she admitted: “I only told a running friend and my hairdresser, but my husband accidentally found out when the audition was in his car tuning into the Bluetooth!”

Diane confessed that she had not suspected Miles was a traitor even after he gave her the poisoned chalice.

She said: ‘I started to suspect Paul, luckily Ash from the start. Miles, no, he was just a nice guy and that distracts you.

I jokingly said, “You gave me a fizzy rose!” and when you look back, you see the moment of panic in his eyes. I don’t know if I’m the best traitor hunter. I was just having fun.”

Her over-the-top death and funeral were hailed by viewers as ‘the best TV moment ever’ and ‘Bafta worthy’.

Speaking about her spectacular farewell, Diane joked: ‘I can’t believe it. The worst hangover I’ve ever had after a fizzy rose.’
