They’re not migrants, they’re ‘newcomers’: Biden faces anger over new politically correct phrase for border crossings during historic crisis

The White House is facing criticism for using a new politically correct term for illegal migrants crossing the southern border: new arrivals.

The new term was revealed in a little-noticed “fact sheet” on the White House website, uploaded ahead of President Biden’s trip to the border in Brownsville, Texas, Thursday.

A $118 billion border and foreign aid deal with the Senate — including $20 billion in border security measures — fell apart in spectacular fashion earlier this month, angering the Biden administration.

The fact sheet states that the bill would provide $1.4 billion in support to “cities and states that provide critical services to newcomers, and would expedite work permits for people who are in the country and eligible.”

Eagle-eyed lawmakers immediately began condemning the White House for using the “misleading” term “newcomers” for migrants.

The White House is using “such dishonest and misleading language” to mislead America, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., told DailyMail.com exclusively.

Americans “universally oppose providing billions of dollars in taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens,” the chairman explained.

‘Illegal aliens’ is the legal term to describe individuals who do not immigrate to the US through legal and official channels

Green said illegal migrants will “claim resources at the expense of Americans” as long as they remain in the US

The president, who “vehemently” opposed the Senate’s proposed border deal, said it would only put billions of dollars into the hands of NGOs that “facilitated” the border crisis.

“I am sure that those who have recently arrived in our country through the legal immigration process will be surprised to learn that ‘newcomers’ for President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas now include those who crossed the line to enter he added to DailyMail.com.

The House of Representatives’ Republican report on X criticized the White House’s use of the politically correct term.

“Joe Biden is not serious about stopping illegal immigration to the United States. This is by definition a catastrophe,” the report on X wrote.

Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., stated that Joe Biden “welcomes newcomers.”

“For those unfamiliar, newcomers = illegal aliens on American soil by breaking our laws. Many commit violent crimes, facilitate human and fentanyl trafficking, and cost American taxpayers nearly $500 billion.”

Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told DailyMail.com that the term “doesn’t make sense to me.”

“I suspect Laken Riley’s family doesn’t view them as guests and newcomers, they would probably have a slightly different perspective, like frankly some of those police officers in New York who were attacked a few weeks ago,” he said. .

An undocumented Venezuelan immigrant was arrested in the recent high-profile murder of Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia.

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, told DailyMail.com that the politically correct term infuriates him.

“Oh, that makes me angry,” he said, pointing to the death of Riley, who was just 22 years old.

‘I have a 23-year-old daughter, and this goes far beyond politics. Wherever you live in this country, you don’t feel safe. Would you call that illegal alien who killed Laken Riley a newcomer? I would not do it. I would call them a criminal.”

“Joe Biden is not serious,” said Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla.

“He would rather waste people’s money than change his policies,” he told DailyMail.com.

“So until he decides to change the policy, it doesn’t mean that what he calls people who come in, or how much money he tries to spend, isn’t going to solve the problem.”

Federal data shows that more than 7.3 million migrants have entered the country illegally since Biden took office in 2021.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump will make dueling visits to the border on Thursday as illegal immigrants remain a top issue heading into the 2024 election.

The president is meeting with U.S. Border Patrol agents, law enforcement and local leaders, according to a White House official.

Trump will visit Eagle Pass on Thursday, where he will accuse Biden of record high numbers of illegal crossings and discuss Riley’s murder.

Donald Trump wrote in a DailyMail.com op-ed on Thursday that Biden is “chasing” him to the border today.

He said Biden is “undoubtedly desperate to avoid blame for the catastrophe he has created.”

‘But don’t be fooled. The abolition of US borders is Joe Biden’s policy. The mass migration of millions of illegal aliens to the United States is Joe Biden’s plan. This is Joe Biden’s invasion,” he continued.

“When I left office, we gave Biden the most secure border in American history.”

“We have ended catch and release. We’ve built hundreds of miles of border wall. We have implemented Remain in Mexico, Safe Third Country Agreements with Central American countries, an asylum ban, Title 42 and expedited removals.”
