Bunnings Warehouse has unveiled its three best-selling big-box items of 2024 – and they prove how much safety and keeping up appearances mean to Aussies.

According to the popular retailer, the best item with a high price tag was the Ryobi cordless string trimmer.

The line trimmer kit costs a whopping $219 and customers can add more batteries, which also work in other Ryobi products.

The line trimmer has hundreds of reviews, with 276 customers giving the machine five stars.

‘I’ve always felt that pruning the garden was hard work, but it’s surprisingly easy with this. I did the front and back garden and felt great afterwards!’ One said.

Another said they added higher quality line to their machine and noticed a huge difference. But I thought the tool was a great investment.

However, 25 customers took the time to hand out one-star reviews.

One claimed it “broke within two months” before it got through the first coil of wire.

The lawn mower, which uses the same battery, is also one of the top sellers

Another said it’s frustrating to wait four hours to charge the machine when it “only works for 20 minutes.”

The Ryobi electric mower, which uses the same battery, was next on customers’ charts at $499.

And it has received over 800 reviews.

603 of those were five stars, with many people recommending the mowers.

“This does the job of a four-stroke mower, I’m super happy with it,” wrote one customer.

“It’s super quiet and starts on the first try every time – I love it,” said another.

This security system was also popular in 2024

The third most purchased item with great prices has nothing to do with lawn care and everything to do with safety.

The EufyCam 3 4-camera kit with home base costs $1278 and promises sharp, clear images.

And it can even detect and reveal license plates from 10 meters away.

Of the 19 reviewers, 11 gave the camera system five stars.

‘I bought this kit over a month ago and am absolutely thrilled with the picture quality and not having to worry about charging. It still says 100% battery. Installation was easy,” one person said.

‘Seems well made. Sturdy. Easy installation – no wiring. Registers movement day and night. Clear images. App works intuitively. No ongoing costs. Highly recommended,” another mentioned.

But some people claimed that it could not see further than seven meters or that the solar charger function did not work for them.

The biggest all-round sellers at Bunnings were smaller items such as wall hooks and moving boxes.
