A popular app that allows users to book restaurants is now closing in Australia.
TheFork has been operating Down Under for the past 15 years, but the company announced on Monday that its Australian services will now close on March 31.
“We understand this decision may come as a surprise, and we want to assure you that this was not a decision we made lightly,” the company told customers.
“Due to the significant impact that the pandemic had on the global economy, in particular the hospitality industry, we therefore had to implement certain cost measures, including a reduction of TheFork's geographic footprint.”
TheFork has been operating Down Under for the past 15 years, but the company announced on Monday that its Australian services will now close on March 31.
Those who participate in TheFork's loyalty program have until March 31 to redeem their points, also known as Yums.
TheFork continues to operate in France, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark and Sweden.
The company was launched in 2007 and offered customers a choice of as many as 60,000 restaurants.
Customers could also receive discounts from restaurants that collaborate with TheFork.
