Although the Philadelphia Eagles have booked their ticket to the playoffs, this does not absolve them from heavy criticism for their late-season collapse.

After Sunday's 27-10 loss to the New York Giants — who left the Eagles down 24-0 at halftime — the NBC Sports desk in Philadelphia didn't hold back in their judgment of the team.

“I'm embarrassed by the performance,” broadcaster Ron Jaworski said. “For two months now, this team has looked like an ill-prepared professional football team unworthy of representing what we believe is a great city. And we deserve better than that.

“You said last week against Arizona was a low point (when the Eagles were defeated 35-31) – that's what I thought too.

“The way that team came out today, I'm ashamed of them. To put that kind of product on the field against the New York Giants, a team they are better at.”

Jaworski's colleague Reuben Frank interjected by mentioning how the Dallas Cowboys fell behind early in their game against the Washington Commanders.

The Eagles and Cowboys were locked in a tight race for first place in the NFC East. However, the Eagles looked lackluster in their loss to the struggling Giants. Dallas, meanwhile, came back against Washington to top the division.

“The fact that Dallas was down 10-7 and they were already falling apart,” Frank added.

“The Eagles are already falling apart with a chance to maybe win a division and get a No. 2 seed, and even that wasn't enough motivation to get them to wake up and play like a real football team. That's the most alarming thing about it.'

The Eagles started the season with a convincing 10-1 record. However, they encountered some turbulence during a Week 12 loss to San Francisco and have failed to regain their position since.

Despite Philadelphia beating New York on Christmas Day, the Giants held the Eagles to 299 yards with two interceptions and five sacks, upsetting them in their regular season finale.

Philadelphia lost five of its last six games and finished the season with a 12–6 record.

The Eagles have the fifth seed in the NFC and will meet the No. 4 seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a wild-card matchup next weekend.
