The twenty counties where Kamala Harris lost the most votes to Donald Trump

In the three weeks since Kamala Harris’ devastating election defeat, Democrats have tried to come to terms with a daunting reality: Donald Trump’s support grew significantly across the country.

Even in the states that were called blue, the Republican saw a groundswell of popularity that carried him to a decisive victory in what polls showed would be one of the closest races in history.

Trump received more than 2.5 million votes than in 2020 and gained ground in all fifty states, while Harris saw a seven million vote drop in his 2020 win from President Joe Biden’s total.

The vice president’s party has been trying to figure out what happened, and the finger-pointing has sparked a furious debate that will continue until the next presidential election.

The statistics show that Harris has lost a number of counties that Democrats have won in every presidential election since 2008.

In some cases, she managed to keep some areas blue, but the loss of support represents the nationwide shift that ultimately secured Trump’s presidency.

DailyMail.com’s data journalism team has broken down the 20 counties from across the country that saw the biggest move from blue to red.

In Maverick, Texas, Harris saw 13.82 percent less support than Biden, giving Trump the first Republican victory there in five election cycles.

There are also performances from counties in the usually safe Democratic states of New York, New Jersey and California.

In New York City, for example, Harris posted the worst results of anyone in her party since 1988.

In the Bronx, she saw a 10.73 percent decline in support compared to Biden in 2020.

The Empire State still voted for Harris, but losses elsewhere sealed her fate.

Miami-Dade County, Florida – a once solidly blue county with a nearly 70 percent Hispanic population – voted for its first Republican president since 1988.

Arizona is the only one of the seven swing states where counties appear on the list.

In Yuma County, which borders Mexico, Harris saw an 11 percent decline in support compared to 2020.

Trump ultimately swept the seven battlegrounds that polls had identified as close to a razor’s edge ahead of the Nov. 5 vote.

The president-elect also secured the popular vote, becoming the first Republican candidate to do so in two decades.

He even took a bite out of Harris’ support in urban areas, where she was favored, dominated the black and Hispanic votes and saw a surge of support from men under 45.
