The One Show producers step in to clear up fiery debate between presenters

The One Show is thrown into chaos as producers are forced to step in to settle fiery arguments between presenters

The One Show was thrown into chaos on Wednesday when producers were forced to step in to clear up a fiery debate between presenters.

It all happened when Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas were joined by comedian and host of The Great British Sewing Bee, Sara Pascoe.

BBC producers stepped in as a fiery on-screen debate took place between the presenters over when the iconic phrase ‘Wasssuuuppp’ was first used on TV.

Sara revealed what was in store for her at her sewing show when she said next week is ’90s week. That was my favorite, I was really looking forward to it. I used to say ”Wasssuuuppp”!’

However, Jermaine argued that the famous phrase—first spotted in a fun Budweiser ad—was actually from the 1990s.

Yuck! The One Show was thrown into chaos on Wednesday during the episode hosted by Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas

Who’s right? BBC producers were forced to step in to clear up a fiery on-screen debate between the presenters over when the iconic phrase ‘Wasssuuuppp’ was first used on TV

A surprised Sara admitted, “Okay, I think we need an edit!” while Jermaine asked viewers to write to confirm who was right, as Sara joked, “We’re too old now!”

Later in the show, Alex returned to the debate again, saying, “By the way, because people are home to ‘was it the 90s?’ ”, that was it!’

But Jermaine was adamant he was right, as he insisted, “No, no, no, it was the noughties!” Alex let out an awkward laugh as she confessed, “Oh sorry, I wasn’t listening!”

As the three TV personalities continued to discuss the matter, Alex looked at the camera and asked The One Show behind-the-scenes producers to confirm when the phrase was first used.

While the producers checked the facts in the gallery, there was an awkward pause in the studio before Alex and Jermaine got the answer in their earpieces.

She announced triumphantly, “December 20, 99—we’re right!” to which Jermaine replied, “You can just have it, okay!?” with Sara adding, “It’s just on point.”

In March, the co-hosts faced another awkward incident, when Paddy McGuinness made a joke about tax avoidance on The One Show.

Who was right? After a debate, Alex triumphantly announced that the producer had confirmed, “December 20, 99 – we’re right!” with Jermaine replying, “You can JUST have it, okay!?”

Discussing the move to using virtual payments instead of cash, Alex said, “A lot of smaller stores besides me only took cards, now they ask for cash because they lose money every time people use cards, especially among £5 and £10.”

Jermaine turned to Paddy and asked, “When was the last time you paid with cash?” to which Paddy replied, ‘Well, oddly I mean we’re moving towards a cashless society, but I assume everything is chip and pin.’

“But there’s a small dry cleaner near me that still takes cash only, and you notice it. All my mates are in the construction game, they’re gutted,” he said before appearing to wave his hand at money as a nod to tax avoidance.

He then slyly tapped his nose to suggest that the cash payments were being made surreptitiously, adding, “They used to like doing strange things… one of them, you know what I mean?”

Alex responded by saying, “Say no more,” before Jermaine awkwardly added, “I think we should move on, I think.”
