Wednesday’s Detroit-Washington game was postponed because the Pistons are stuck in Dallas after Monday’s game with the Mavericks due to sub-zero temperatures that have caused thousands of flight delays across Texas.
“Due to severe weather conditions in the Dallas area, the Pistons were unable to fly back to Detroit after their game Monday at American Airlines Center,” the NBA statement read.
A recovery date has not been announced.
The Pistons were supposed to host the visitors from Washington at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m. local time. But even if they could get out of Dallas, their three-hour flight would prevent them from properly preparing for tonight’s game.
Other NBA games could also be affected by unusually cold weather in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The New Orleans Pelicans are scheduled to play in Dallas on Thursday, but remain in Denver following a loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday night.

Sources told ESPN that the Pistons spent seven hours at the Dallas airport on Tuesday before reporting to the hotel.
Detroit’s schedule isn’t very forgiving right now. They host Charlotte and Phoenix on Friday and Saturday, before taking a day off and hosting the first-place Boston Celtics on Monday.
The team is currently 13-39 amid rumors that veteran players like Bojan Bogdanovic could be traded before the February 9 deadline.
Washington is in the NBA playoff picture with a 24-26 mark.
The Wizards will now return home before hosting the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday and traveling to Brooklyn for a clash with the Nets on Saturday.
