What to do in the event of a disruption in online banking and apps?

Consumer rights advocate Which one? has put together the steps to follow when you can’t access your online banking service or app.

Such a problem is usually the result of an IT problem or a maintenance update.

– If you are having trouble with online banking or mobile apps today, see if you can contact your bank to resolve the issues.

– If you can, go to your local bank branch, especially if you need urgent access to your money.

– If you don’t have a local bank branch nearby or don’t have transportation to get there, try calling your bank and asking for advice on what to do.

– If the bank’s phone services are also down or the phone lines are busy, try contacting your bank via social media to ask what to do. However, never share your account information via social media.

– If for any reason you have suffered a financial loss because you were unable to access your money, you may be entitled to compensation.
