The Kid Laroi reveals what it is really like being propelled to global fame as a teenager: ‘I do have a lot of life responsibility’

The Kid Laroi has opened up about the pressures of stardom and what it’s really like to be a young artist navigating life in Hollywood.

The Australian star, 21, whose real name is Charlton Howard, was 14 years old when he recorded his first EP and then skyrocketed to fame with his 2021 hit Stay alongside Justin Bieber.

Now Laroi has detailed what it was like to be given so much ‘responsibility’ at such a young age, admitting it made him feel a lot older than he actually is.

“I’ve felt older for a long time, but this year more than any other year I appreciate how ‘young’ I am,” he admitted. Stellar magazine this week.

“I have a lot of life responsibility, I have all this crazy, real, adult stuff. A lot of people my age go to college or university. I don’t want to feel the need to grow up too quickly.’

After feeling the pressure to grow up quickly, Laroi is now switching gears, attempting to reconnect with the youth he believes he missed during his meteoric rise to fame.

“I spent a lot of my teenage years thinking I had to grow up, you know what I mean? I’m trying to take the time to realize how young I am before it’s over.”

Laroi is no stranger to performing in front of large audiences and will soon be taking the stage again in front of thousands of fans across Australia.

In November he will take his rescheduled The First Time tour to the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart before concluding with two shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

Hitmaker Without You is bringing along US rapper Quavo and controversial Australian drill-rap group OneFour for all his shows, excluding Hobart and the Gold Coast.

Laroi was initially scheduled to kick off his tour in February, but was forced to postpone the dates due to “logistics beyond his control.”

Of the postponement at the time, Laroi said, “I have a really big surprise and a special guest that we just couldn’t wrap up in time for February, along with a lot of other logistics.”

“I want to give you the best show I can and make everyone at home proud,” he continued.

“I promise it will be worth it, and I’ll keep you posted on the special guests and everything else to come.”

He initially planned to catch up on the shows in October, but the announcement of a November run left some fans out in the cold.
