The Grounds of Alexandria: Surprising restaurant named world’s most popular beating out famous names like LA’s Nobu and London’s Sketch

Sydney’s Thee Grounds of Alexandria has been crowned the world’s most Instagrammed restaurant.

According to new research commissioned by Betway, the sprawling cafe, bar and restaurant achieved almost double the posts of America’s most popular restaurant, Nobu Malibu.

According to the study, which analyzed the hashtags of 100 American and 100 international restaurants, a whopping 120,440 posts were made using #groundsofalexandria.

“Thanks to its beautiful decor, the eatery is a popular event location, where weddings, parties and photo shoots regularly take place,” Betway writes in its report.

The Grounds of Alexandria opened in 2012 on the site of a former cake factory and is known for its extravagant themed displays, which change regularly.

Sketch in London came second after The Grounds.

Site director Ramzey Choker said he was surprised by the result.

“Every day we talk about creating moments,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

‘It’s not really about the 120,000 hashtags, for us it’s the 120,000 moments, that’s why we’re here.

“Today we stand here in the rain and create a circus track for people to enjoy… but it’s worth it for every customer who comes in.”
