CBS had issued a three-season renewal for Young Sheldon in 2021 for the fifth, sixth and seventh seasons, although it revealed in November – just days after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended – that season 7 would be the last.

β€œIt was an amazing experience to be able to tell the origins of Sheldon Cooper and expand the story to include the entire Cooper family,” said executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre.

β€œWe are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers over the past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire Young Sheldon family, we are excited to share this final season with you,” she added.

The series was a prequel to another CBS hit, The Big Bang Theory, which ran for twelve seasons from 2007 to 2019.

Luckily for fans, the Young Sheldon universe continues with yet another spinoff.

The as-yet-untitled series will focus on the lives of characters Georgie Cooper and Mandy McAllister.

The film follows the couple, played by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, as they raise a family in Texas and deal with the trials and tribulations of parenthood.

It was also reported that the show’s first season was expected to last a total of 13 episodes.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach made a statement expressing her excitement for the upcoming project.

β€œIt has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey continues with Georgie and Mandy,” she said.
