Matty Healy has said he’s quitting social media because he no longer wants to be a f***ing a**hole.
The 34-year-old 1975 singer plans to stop expressing his views on Twitter and Instagram, saying he’s had “enough” with the sites.
Fans of the indie pop musician will have noticed that he deactivated his Instagram last weekend.
According to The sunMatty announced that he was turning over a new leaf on stage in Adelaide, Australia, on Monday.
He said, ‘It’s (coming from social media) because everything happens in ages. The 1975 is a band from an entire era. The era of me fucking a hole is coming to an end. I’m done with it.

“I perform all the time and it’s my job and I love doing this, but I can’t perform off stage anymore because I just want to be a dude.”
Matty, the son of Loose Women presenter Denise Welch and actor Tim Healy, has often raised eyebrows with his antics.
The star previously ate raw meat on stage and kissed his fans during performances.
In May 2020, Matty deactivated his Twitter amid the backlash he received with a poorly received tweet about George Floyd’s death.
Floyd, a 46-year-old man from Minneapolis, died after a police officer knelt on his neck (while handcuffed), stopping him from breathing during a horrific incident caught on camera.
Matt tweeted, “If you truly believe ‘ALL LIVES MATTER’ you need to stop facilitating the end of the black,” along with a link to his track Love It If We Made It.
The song’s lyrics include the verses, “We’re king in a car, shooting heroin / Saying controversial things just for fun / Sell melanin and then choke the black men / Start felonies and we’ll do business out.”
The tie-in angered many fans as they felt the singer was using the tragic death as a promotional tool.

Prior to the deactivation, Matty apologized and said he is better articulated through his music than his raw words.
“Sorry I didn’t link my song in that tweet to make it about me, it’s just that the song is literally about this disgusting situation and speaks more eloquently than I can on Twitter,” he said.
More recently, Matty appeared to hit back at fellow artist Youngblud in February in a foul-mouthed tirade on Instagram.
The singer took to social media for a week after she was seemingly labeled a “privileged white man” by the Yorkshire rapper.
Matty shared a foul-mouthed tirade in which he mimicked an exaggerated Northern accent with a filter that placed the word Emo on both cheeks.
It comes after Matty faced criticism from fans following a podcast appearance where he discussed the legacy of New York rapper Ice Spice.
Speaking The Adam Friedland Show he debated with his bandmates whether the singer was Hawaiian or Chinese and mimicking foreign accents before saying he believed Harry Styles “gets a free pass” for alleged “queer-bating.”

In a now-viral tweet, Yungblud wrote, seemingly in reference to the podcast apperence, “Lovely listening to three privileged white dudes hang out and objectify a young black female artist blowing up. welcome to your 30’s I guess’.
After a week of no response, Matty shared a clip from Tissues hitmaker to his Instagram Stories as the star read a book and smoked on stage, writing, “I feel a little responsible and I’m really sorry.”
He then posted a video of him appearing to impersonate the singer, saying, “Okay guys, I’m so f****** angry.”
“Somebody blew themselves up in Ukraine and uh we’re not going to face that because we’re the underrated youth f****** generation and that’s what we’re facing,” seemingly in reference to Yungblud’s album The Underrated Youth from 2019 .
He continued, “I don’t stand for things, I’m against things… I’m just against things and it’s usually the most morally obvious stuff… f*** the patriarchy!
