The 10 most watched movies of all time according to Netflix

>

Netflix has revealed its ten most-watched original movies of all time, seven of which have been released in the past two years and most of which have not been critically acclaimed.

The two films with overall good reviews were Scorsese’s 2019 hit The Irishman, which was nominated for best picture at the Oscars, and more recently 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, starring Daniel Craig.

Netflix’s rating considers how many hours the movie was watched in the 28 days after it was released. The list, therefore, would not give credit to films that grew in popularity some time after their release.

It is also noteworthy that in the last five years, the number of Netflix subscribers has grown significantly, increasing the number of people who could access more recent movies. When The Irishman was released in 2019, Netflix had 158 million subscribers, but when its most watched movie Red Notice was released in 2021, it had 222 million.

Of the top ten, five have Rotten Tomatoes scores below 60 percent.
