A man who caught his wife cheating on camera robot vacuum cleaner Cleaner was convicted of ‘invasion of privacy’.
The husband, who used the video in divorce proceedings, was sentenced to five months in prison after filming his wife without her consent.
The man initially became suspicious of his wife – who married in 2021 – when he found a toothbrush in their holiday home that belonged to neither him nor his partner.
The man, who lives in Taiwan, then viewed CCTV footage from outside the property, which showed a man repeatedly bringing his wife home.
A few months later, in December 2023, he used an app to activate the vacuum cleaner remotely in the holiday home from his parents’ house, where the couple lived.
He reportedly tried to turn on the device’s audio function but instead activated the live camera, which caught the woman with her lover, South said. China Morning mail.
The husband, whose name and age have not been made public, then filmed the couple undressing and walking naked through the holiday home.

When he discovered the affair, he claimed just over £46,600 (NT$2 million) in damages from his wife in divorce proceedings, citing the video as evidence.
A civil court ruled that the woman’s affair and behavior “exceeded the bounds of friendship” and ordered her ex-partner to pay just over £11,600 (NT$500,000).
However, the adulteress took her husband to court for violating her privacy.
Although the man claimed that the evidence had already been accepted by a civil court, the criminal court rejected his defense, saying that marital duties do not override an individual’s right to privacy.
The sound and lighting from the Hoover’s enabled camera and microphone were deemed “too dim” to have alerted the woman.
In addition to his five months behind bars, the man must also pay her almost £3,500 (NT$150,000).
