Bizarre footage shows a Texas man trying to outsmart a police robot in a bizarre way, only to be teargassed and rammed by the robot.
Felix Delarosa, 39, was arrested after he opened fire on police in Lubbock, Texas, with the incident escalating into a SWAT standoff, according to local channel KCBD.
Delarosa opened fire on gang-busting officers who tried to contact him at the hotel where he was staying, repeatedly ignoring commands from SWAT negotiators.
This prompted the police to deploy the bomb disposal robot, but it too was shot by the wanted man.
As the bot approached Delarosa’s room, the former captive was seen stepping out to cover the bot with what appeared to be a blanket or towel.

Delarosa apparently thought he had outsmarted the machine, but the officer operating the machine shook off the dust and fired tear gas through an open window in his room.
The convict was then seen crawling out through the open window and falling to the ground.
Delarosa covered his face and tried to get up, but then the robot started to run over him, pulling down his shorts, revealing his red underwear.
The bullet continued to hit him, eventually pushing him against a wall, allowing SWAT officers to safely arrest him.
Delarosa now faces charges of aggravated assault on a public servant after a confrontation that lasted nearly two hours.

Police originally sought Delarosa because a warrant had been issued for his arrest on a parole violation alleging tampering with his electronic listening device.
In 2017, Delarosa was sentenced to 20 years in prison for manufacturing and supplying a controlled substance.
According to state prison records, Delarosa was released from prison in April 2022 and placed on probation.
