Terror: 20 dead and 68 injured in head-on collision between tour bus and van in South Africa

Up to 20 people were killed and 68 injured after a head-on collision between a tour bus and a van carrying cash.
The collision occurred on the N1 motorway in the Makhado area of Limpopo in South Africa at around 8:00pm last night (6:00pm UK time).
After the accident, the bus rolled off the highway bridge into the river and landed on its left side.
The ER24 private ambulance service dispatched paramedics to the scene at 8:05pm along with the Provincial Fire, EMS and Rescue Department and various other private EMS services.
The scene was still active around midnight (10pm UK time), the ER24 emergency blog reports.

ER24 said several passengers are still possibly missing as 20 people have been confirmed dead in the crash.
One patient, out of 69 confirmed passengers transported to hospital for multiple injuries, has since died.
Three people were found dead by the roadside and 16 others were found dead by the river.
Most of the people found dead by the river had been trapped under the bus.
ER24 said the exact details surrounding the collision are “unknown at this time”, however the South African Police Service attended the scene to investigate.
The ambulance service said heavy rain had been falling in the area before the incident.

ER24 spokesman Ross Campbell said: “Three people were found dead by the roadside and sixteen by the river.”
All were pronounced dead on arrival. Most of those killed by the rover had been trapped under the bus,” she said, adding that one person died after being transported to hospital.
