Terrified Adele ditches taking selfies with fans during her Vegas gigs over fears she’ll catch Covid – and admits she’s ‘hanging on for dear life’ to continue her residency
Adele has steered clear of taking close-up selfies with her fans during her Las Vegas shows.
The terrified singer, 35, made the change due to fears of catching COVID and admitted she is “hanging on for dear damn life” as her shows go.
Adele has halted her regular appearances where she poses for selfies alongside fans following a viral outbreak at Caesars Palace, as she admitted friends and crew were already ‘dropping like flies’.
The worried star has even paused her famous walks through the crowd, where she greets and hugs fans while singing When We Were Young, for fear of contracting the deadly virus.
Adele has vowed not to let the virus destroy her current run at the Coliseum after claiming COVID infections among her crew and delivery delays caused her to postpone the start of her Las Vegas residency last year.
Worried! Adele, 35, has stopped posing for close-up selfies with fans at her Las Vegas shows over fears of catching COVID
Adele expressed fear of postponement, which would lead to ‘f***ing p****d off’ fans condemning her for missing more shows
She told the audience: ‘Normally I would absolutely stop and have a chat and stuff and I hear all about your life and be the curious person that I am. However, I’m hanging in there and trying not to get COVID.”
The singer also revealed that her backing singer Amanda has missed performances after a positive Covid test.
She continued, “Everyone I know I work with has fucking COVID, so it’s a miracle I haven’t had it yet.
“And I really enjoy chatting with you, but I don’t want to get sick, I’ll take selfies from a distance or record your video.
“Maybe I have symptoms and then I can’t do my show and I’ll be damned if I cancel any more of these shows. I refuse to cancel shows.”
She further explained her concerns: “I just can’t risk getting sick. Honestly my immune system is in the gutter and I want to be close to you and stuff like that but I just can’t risk it.
“I’m a germaphobe, so I might be dramatic. But they all have COVID. But I use a lot of hand gel. When I meet someone I say, “Hi, it’s so nice to meet you.” And then I have hand gel in my hand.’

Safety first: The concerned star has even cut short her famous walks through the crowd, where she greets and hugs fans while singing When We Were Young, for fear of contracting the virus
Adele admitted: “I’ve always been like that, but I just wanted to let you know that I’m sticking with it to play for you guys.
“I got the flu during my last break, two days after my last show, and I was excited. I don’t mind catching the flu during my break. I don’t mind getting sick during my break.
‘I have nine weeks left. This is my 26th weekend. Last Saturday was my 50th show and that felt like a milestone.’
Grinning, she added, “Because, I don’t know if you heard, but like a year and a half ago, I had to cancel the first leg. So turning fifty was like a dream. So I’m so happy.’
When the audience didn’t acknowledge her COVID concerns, she responded by asking, “Maybe you stopped testing?”
Adele made headlines worldwide when she pulled out of her show hours before its scheduled start in January 2022.
She mentioned COVID outbreaks among her team and production, but it turns out the entire production was scrapped due to arguments over the set and staging.
But she roared back with a critically acclaimed run of shows in November 2022, and is now halfway through the second leg of her Weekends Residency.
