Speaking to presenter Anita Rani on Woman’s Hour, Lorraine said defiantly of the account, which now has almost 19,000 followers: ‘I know, it’s crazy how much space I take up in people’s minds.’
She continued to insist that the account didn’t bother her, explaining: “It’s fine. I don’t care, I don’t give a damn. I probably would have broken it off before, but I definitely wouldn’t now. It’s absolutely fine.”
The star then explained why she has been unable to attend shows lately, as she has taken some time off to care for her ailing mother.
Lorraine continues: ‘But you should never comment on these kinds of things if you don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives. But I do have to take a few Fridays off because my mother is not well.
“So I can go home now and spend a little bit more time with her and help her a little bit more than I’ve been able to before. That’s happening now, but that will change.
‘I’ve been working five days a week for 40 years, so I’m taking a little break now. This week is fall break and that’s why I can talk to you!’
Heartbroken, Lorraine rushed to her elderly mother’s bedside in July 2023 after Anne was admitted to University Hospital Monklands in Lanarkshire.
She last gave an update on her health on Instagram in May: ‘Mama continues to fight against everything and everyone!!
In February, Lorraine revealed she was often absent from her show to care for her ailing mother Anne, 81 (both pictured in May)
‘Took her for lunch in Glasgow and we had a lovely time. We even went for a little walk. She is the definition of untamable!! So proud of her.’
Lorraine also shared a health update about her “courageous” mother Anne, 81, in March.
Lorraine posted a message on Instagram in honor of Mother’s Day: “Happy Mother’s Day to my brave, sweet mom – who deals with a serious illness and still manages to toast (occasionally)! And always makes the most of every day!”
Lorraine has not announced that Anne is ill.
