A teenage girl has died while riding in a buggy in rural Queensland.
The girl suffered serious injuries after she crashed her four-wheeler on private property at about 1.57am in Canoona, about 50km north of Rockhampton.
Emergency services assessed the girl at the scene but she could not be saved, the Queensland Ambulance Service told 7News.
Just three weeks ago, a 25-year-old man was killed in a buggy accident on a Townsville beach.
Earlier in August, a man in his 50s died after an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle while he was herding sheep on a property in rural Tasmania.
In March, 16-year-old Gage Fowler was killed in a horrific quad bike accident in Darling Heights, Queensland.
Emergency services were called to a home in Darling Heights, south of Toowoomba in south-east Queensland, at around 1.30am on March 17 after reports of an SUV overturning.
Gage’s death caused much grief among their bereaved friends at the time.
“Until we meet again bro, a gift for all of us,” one person wrote.
Another friend wrote: ‘I will always think of you, my brother. Rest in peace,’

In Australia, more than 180 people have died in quad bike accidents in an eight-year period between January 2011 and March 2023.
The ACCC has always been focused on ATV safety. In 2018, the ACCC lobbied for stricter standards, as the number of fatal ATV crashes in Australia reached a record high.
In 2019, new safety regulations were introduced to reduce the number of injuries and deaths while driving these vehicles.
