Tearful Casey DeSantis says she wasn’t sure she’d be alive at her kids’ future graduations or weddings while battling breast cancer and praises Ron: ‘He fought for me’

  • “I didn’t know if I’d see my kids graduate from kindergarten let alone go to high school or see them walk down the aisle”
  • “I had him with me every step of the way,” she said of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Casey DeSantis got emotional thinking about the moment she was diagnosed with breast cancer and credited her husband Ron with helping her through it.

The Florida governor and his wife gave a joint interview to Fox News’ Harris Faulkner on Tuesday, in which Casey wondered if she’d be around to see her kids’ milestones.

“The day I finally found out it was Ron who told me,” she said.

In October 2021, Casey had announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent six chemotherapy treatments and was declared cancer-free in March 2022.

“I didn’t know if I’d see my kids graduate from kindergarten let alone go to high school or see them walk down the aisle. I had him every step of the way,” she said, her voice bursting with tears.

Casey claimed her husband treated her cancer diagnosis the same way he approached the Covid-19 pandemic as governor: “What he did for me in my fight against cancer is what he did for the people of this state during COVID, because he went through it and he analyzed the data. Just as he fought for me, he fought for the people of this state.”

Florida’s first lady frowned at her “funny” and “smart” presidential candidate husband during the interview.

“After I met him, I quickly knew he was the one. You can tell he’s funny, he’s a great guy to hang out with, he’s very, very smart. He has a good moral compass,” she said.

At one point, DeSantis was asked what kind of first lady she would be.

“Someone who looks at the part with a lot of humility,” she said.

“It’s not about me, it’s about being in a position to do good on behalf of the people of this state and hopefully this country.”

It’s hard to miss Casey DeSantis on the campaign trail with her husband. Where Ron is portrayed as clumsy and aloof, Casey is the one who stepped in and charmed the audience.

Former President Trump still has a significant lead over DeSantis entering the Republican Party presidential debate on Wednesday.

In Iowa, the first state in the country to host caucus, Trump has a 23-point lead over Florida’s governor, according to the latest DailyMail.com poll.

Trump will not participate in Wednesday’s debate and will let the other candidates talk it out as he gives an interview to Tucker Carlson.
