Taylor Swift’s new album is blasphemous and mocks God, outraged Christian leaders claim

Faith clues are well known at Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets Department, as they claim the superstar has crossed the line from secular to anti-Christian with many of the lyrics from her latest release.

Religious critics of Swift’s much-hyped record say the singer’s writing implies that Christians are hateful, judgmental and vengeful people.

Shane Pruitt of the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board pointed out specific texts he found objectionable.

For example, in the song “But Daddy I Love Him,” Swift sings, “But daddy I love him / I just learned these people are just raising you / To cage you / Sarahs and Hannahs in their Sunday best / Clutchin’ their pearls , sighing, “What a mess” / I just learned these people are trying to save you “Because they hate you.”

She goes on to sing, “God save the most judgmental creeps,” the same people she claims “hypocritically performing monologues.”

“You don’t have to pray for me,” she continues.

Some Christian faith leaders have turned away from Taylor Swift’s new album, claiming it is blasphemous and a mockery of their faith

In another song, “Guilty As Sin,” the billionaire pop princess sings, “What if I roll away the stone? / They’re going to crucify me anyway / What if the way you’re holding me is actually holy?’

Many of the songs are also tagged with ‘E’ for explicit, which may not make them suitable for a young Christian audience.

Pruitt, the National Next Gen director of the SBC board, wrote about the line he believes Swift has crossed with her latest work:

‘I am absolutely not the preacher or parent who has the ‘no secular music’ position. I also fully realize that unbelievers will act like unbelievers. However, there is a difference between being secular and being anti-Christian,” he wrote.

He added that he has traditionally been a Swift listener, but thinks now is “time to reconsider.”

“As Spirit-filled Christians, should we be entertained by, sing along to, and expose our children to lyrics that are not only different from what you believe, but actually mock what you believe?” he asked.

Pruitt isn’t the only loyal entertainment consumer who has found huge flaws in Swift’s latest offering.

MovieGuide, a Christian entertainment review company, declares that its Tortured Poets section “mocks Christianity.”

“While it’s no secret that Taylor Swift is not a Christian, she made her hatred of religion known through her recently released album ‘The Tortured Poets Department,'” the MovieGuide review said.

“The album is full of little jokes that elevate Swift above God, while also featuring two songs dedicated to tearing down Christian sexual ethics.”

Then the review got personal.

“The fact that one of the most popular and famous celebrities of her generation cannot find happiness reveals that living in the world leads to death, while living for Christ and under his teachings leads to life.

“Sadly, Swift has chosen the path to death and is reaping the fruits of her labor.”

Swift’s album, which was released 10 days ago with 15 additional songs, was adored by both her fans and some critics, but was not universally well received. Some argue that the hitmaker’s rushed double album lacks creativity and shows immaturity as an artist.

A Paste Magazine review, which removed the writer’s name from the article due to the almost certain threat of deranged hostility from Swift’s fan militia, said that Swift has been unable to stop herself from creatively targeting those very people. infantilize. believe in her music and drive her successes to the top.”

The unnamed author claims that The Tortured Poets Department’s song of the same name contained “some of Swift’s worst lyricism yet.”

The author then wondered whether Swift, a newly minted Forbes billionaire, is still capable of experiencing “torture” of the kind she writes about in this album.

“If Swift can return to one of her dozens of beach houses around the world, lift her feet and say, ‘I am a poet of struggle,’ who’s to say that millions – maybe billions – of people with access to a banknote app and a social media account don’t dream that dream, do they?’ read the review.
