REVEALED: The real reason Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce ‘have declined their invitations to the Met Gala’

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will not attend the Met Gala.

Despite both the singer and her NFL boyfriend receiving invites, TMZ has claimed the couple responded “no” to the star-studded event on May 6.

The Costume Institute’s Spring Exhibition falls on the first Monday in May each year and is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year, the date of the event coincides with the singer hitting the road again for her Eras tour, with her first stop in Paris on Thursday, May 9. It is unclear why Travis declined his invitation to The Met.

Either way, fans of the famous couple will have to wait longer until they make their highly anticipated red carpet debut together.

Taylor and Travis went public with their romance in September, with the singer flying back and forth to support him at NFL games, including the Super Bowl.

Travis also did his part to support Taylor, flying to South America and Australia for her Eras World Tour.

The sportsman gave a rare insight into their lives in episodes of his New Heights podcast, admitting he has no idea how he got her into the NFL.

He told rapper and actor Lil Dicky about his current situation: “It’s fun, man. I’m having a good time in life honey, I’m just flying high and enjoying it…bringing new lives into the football world and opening the football world to new things.”

In response, Philadelphia native Lil Dicky said, “I think this is the best thing ever, I love it. My take on it, not that you want to talk about it for the 5000th time, there’s something about it that makes people feel like the world is like high school.

“Your most popular pop star, beloved musician, somehow met your most popular beloved athlete and they really fell in love and it’s just real. Anyone who hates it is a bitter loser. I think a lot of people who would expect to hate it actually love it, and they recognize that they love it because there’s something so American about it.”

“I appreciate that,” Travis said in response. “I don’t know how I did it, because she didn’t like sports, so I don’t know how the hell I did it.”

Lil Dicky then joked, “well you did it because you said you called her on your multimedia platform,” which led to laughter and Travis responding, “Yeah, I know exactly how I did it.”

Travis and Taylor’s relationship began after he attended one of her Eras Tour shows and subsequently told his podcast listeners that he didn’t meet her after the show, despite giving her a friendship bracelet.

One thing led to another and the pair eventually met, hit it off and quickly became America’s most popular couple.

Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth are the co-chairs of the 2024 Met Gala. Vogue’s Anna Wintour is also on the committee.

The chairs of honor for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

This year the event is called Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. The dress code is The Garden of Time.

The display case displays approximately 250 items from the permanent collection of The Costume Institute.

The pieces are all rendered using elements such as AI, GCI and more, while themes such as land, sea and sky are played out.
