Tatiana Dokhotaru: Police search for missing phone and large sum of cash from Liverpool unit

A missing mobile phone and a large sum of money belonging to a mother found dead in a unit in western Sydney are tracked down by the police.

Tatiana ‘Tania’ Dokhotaru, 34, was found dead at 8pm on Saturday in her Liverpool apartment, almost 24 hours after her desperate appeal for help in which she claimed her partner Danny Zayat, 28, was ‘bashing’ her.

Zayat has since been charged with more than a dozen domestic violence-related offenses that allegedly occurred before her death, including choking and violating an AVO.

He was refused bail in court on Monday. No charges have been filed in relation to Ms. Dokhotaru’s death and he is assisting detectives in their investigations.

A source close to the investigation said that the money and phone had disappeared from Ms. Dokhotaru’s house and they were able to find out what happened to her..

It’s because some loved ones are speculating that her death may have been caused by the opioid painkiller tramadol, but these rumors were closed by the insider.

“If she overdosed, why is a large sum of money and her phone missing from her apartment?” the source told Daily Mail Australia.

“The police don’t have them.”

NSW police declined to comment as the investigation is ongoing.

According to a police information sheet filed in court, Ms. Dokhotaru invited Zayat to her flat on Friday night, where she lived with their young son.

The couple allegedly got into an argument around 11:40 p.m.

She frantically called the police and said she was attacked in her apartment, but did not leave her details.

“He’s bashing me… my husband is taking all the money out of my house,” she said in a call to triple-0.

Officers who arrived at the 297-unit complex in Norfolk Street Liverpool about three hours later left Liverpool when they were unable to locate her apartment in the massive tower.

About 20 hours later, officers returned to the block after receiving a call from the woman’s neighbor around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Her death came just two days before her son’s fourth birthday on Sunday.

Zayat was arrested at the scene and charged with domestic violence-related crimes, including harassment, violating an AVO and destroying or damaging property.

He later told police that he left the house around midnight on Friday after an argument about Ms. Dokhotaru taking drugs, but returned the next day when he was unable to contact her.

He was refused bail in court on Monday. The court was told he now faces more than a dozen new charges, including suffocation related to domestic violence without consent, assault with bodily harm and common assault.

No charges have been filed in relation to Ms. Dokhotaru’s death.

Tributes continue to pour in for Ms Dokhotaru – a Russian national who migrated to Australia about a decade ago – as she is remembered as a “beautiful and hard-working” mother.

Among those mourning the loss of the single mother is her former husband, from whom she divorced several years ago.

“I had no contact with her from 2017 to the beginning of this year,” he told Daily Mail Australia on the same day he gave a statement to police.

Footage obtained yesterday by Daily Mail Australia showed a tearful Ms Dokhotaru moving the camera over her face to show friends her swollen and bruised left eye.

She sent the clip of her facial injuries to loved ones last week.

The clip emerged as Ms. Dokhotaru’s shattered parents, Olga Dokhotaru and Dennis Thievin, who live in Canada, demanded answers about the death of their only daughter.

They told 7News that they knew something was terribly wrong when they didn’t hear from them for a few days.

“Since when does someone call frantically, at midnight, and you kind of ignore it?” Dennis said.

Zayat is due to appear in court on Friday.
