Taron Egerton Gets Caught In An International Thriller In Trailer For The Wild True Story Behind Tetris

Taron Egerton looks to buy the rights to an iconic video game in the trailer for the new Tetris movie.

Tetris, which will be released on AppleTV+, centers on Egerton’s character as he tries to buy the Tetris video game from its creator, who lives in the Soviet Union.

Harry Potter actor Toby Jones, The Fast and the Furious actor Rick Yune and The Crown star Ben Miles will also star alongside the Rocketman actor.

The Tetris trailer opens with Egerton’s character, Henk Rogers, describing Tetris as the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.

“I played for five minutes,” he explains as the overlapping Tetris blocks fall around him. ‘I still see blocks falling in my dreams.’

Yune’s character, Larry, replies that he just doesn’t see the appeal of the game before Europe’s The Final Countdown starts playing over the trailer.

Rogers then arrives at a building where he is told that only ‘ten other people in the world’ have seen the invention revealed to him.

“It’s called the Game Boy,” Miles’ character Howard Lincoln tells Rogers. Rogers says that he wants to package the game with Tetris and promises to get the rights.

To do so, Rogers has to travel behind the Iron Curtain to meet the inventor in the Soviet Union.

A man tells him about the dangers of the USSR on the phone, but he hangs up without taking the warning too seriously.

He then explains the risks he’s taking to his wife, who doesn’t seem to agree entirely at first, but changes her tune when he shows her how focused their children are on Tetris.

Rogers travels to Moscow and tells the game’s inventor, Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Efremov), that he plans to make him a millionaire.

However, the country’s communist leanings mean that Rogers has to negotiate with both Pajitnov and the USSR, which is unwilling to work with Rogers.
