Fans celebrated outside a beauty salon in Oakland, seconds before a female rapper was shot dead.
Alliauna Green, 27, better known as Tan DaGod, was murdered around 5pm on Saturday as she unveiled Glamour Beauty Supply on Telegraph Avenue.
The store celebrated its grand opening under new ownership after closing its doors in May. The rising rapper planned a meet-and-greet there, posting videos of herself beaming with pride just before the night turned deadly.
A crowd of supporters were seen dancing and singing to music moments before multiple shots were fired. Green later died in hospital, while a woman who was also shot survived.
Oakland police are currently investigating the fatal shooting and are searching for the suspect, who witnesses said fled on foot.

The short clip before the shooting shows friends and supporters, some with small children, dancing and celebrating the opening in sunny scenes in the store’s parking lot.
The good times quickly turned to fear as people quickly ducked when several gunshots rang out near the store.
Shortly before the fatal incident, Green shared clips with her 20,000 Instagram followers in which she gave fans an animated tour of the store while wearing a black-and-white fur jacket and a large silver necklace.
Green also shared photos of herself sitting on a gold throne next to a bright pink and purple floral display in the new store.
The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he invited the singer to his store because she supported black-owned businesses.

During the shooting, shoppers took cover in a nearby donut shop.
A store employee, Vincent, explains what he saw when the violence broke out.
‘I heard some shots and I thought the shots were part of the music and the performance. Then I heard three very loud shots.
“I think the rapper was screaming, ‘I’m hit, I’m hit,’ and she just laid on the ground until the doctors came,” Vincent said. KTVU.
Another witness, Sul Cho, who works at a Korean BBQ restaurant near the beauty shop, said it appeared the gunman targeted the young rapper.
“He only targeted her, because I saw it. He didn’t shoot everyone, he only shot her,” Cho recalled.

Witnesses said the violence began with a verbal altercation and that the shooter was a black man wearing a hoodie who ran away on foot.

One person lay sobbing on the ground as a friend comforted him, next to a bouquet of red roses left by relatives.
Hip-hop artist Mistah FAB posted a tribute to Green on Instagram, saying he was booked to attend the store opening with her, but “God had other plans.”
“The violence is incomprehensible, the pain, grief and trauma has a lasting impact on everyone,” he wrote alongside a photo of Green.

Fans are speculating that the rapper’s murder may have been a result of ongoing tensions between Green and her ex-boyfriend’s family.
Green was jailed in 2020 for shooting her ex-boyfriend in self-defense. After her release, she was placed in protective custody, which she left to attend the meet-and-greet.
