Rich lister Tammy Hembrow reveals mega feud with her sister Amy after firing her from her clothing company

Australian fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow revealed the details of her dramatic fallout after firing her older sister Amy from her company.

Amy used to work for Tammy’s athleisure brand Saski, but she was fired after their relationship became “volatile” due to the shift in their power dynamics.

Tammy recently spoke with Mamamia co-founder Mia Freedman for an episode of the journalist’s ‘No filter‘ podcast entitled ‘The Business of Tammy Hembrow’s Body’, where she told the story.

“I ended up having to fire (Amy) and our relationship was really bad for a long time,” she said. ‘It was such a build-up (of tension) and we couldn’t work together.

“There are blurred lines when you’re family. Amy is my older sister, she is the oldest of all of us. She thought she was the boss of me, but I was her boss. It just didn’t work. I was super passionate about Saski, but she wasn’t, and that was part of it.’

Letting go of her sister was a difficult decision for Tammy because all of her co-workers are her friends or family.

“My general manager for Saski is Bella, my best friend from high school. My employees are literally all friends.

‘We have our office and warehouse. And then next door we have Tammy Fit. The general manager of Tammy Fit is Crystal, the sister of my sister’s husband.

‘I am very selective in who I bring into my circle and who I trust. That’s why everyone who works for me either comes from a friendship or from an acquaintance.’

Despite the temporary bad blood between Tammy and Amy, her relationship with other employees has been going smoothly so far

“We’re really good at separating friendship and work,” Tammy said. “We can have disagreements in our (personal lives) and not let them leak into our work.”

As their employer, Ms. Freedman pointed out that Tammy is the one who owns the company, pays the salaries and pays the rent for all their buildings – which can lead to a certain hierarchy when it comes to interpersonal relationships.

However, the fitness influencer said the people around her rarely treat her differently because of her fame and fortune – and it hasn’t changed their dynamic at all.

“I feel like (being an international celebrity) doesn’t have much of an impact. It is not a problem. They just know me as me.’

Tammy also revealed that she could always count on her family to help her in times of need.

“It’s really hard to juggle my life,” she said.

‘I pride myself on being a hands-on mother, so it’s hard to balance everything. I’m always pulled in twenty different directions.

‘But my mother is always there to watch my children when I need her, and I always take my daughter to the office. I work on proposals while she runs around…some days are easier than others.”
