A major homicide investigation was launched after a man was found dead in his home, with police stating that the scene showed ‘clear signs of violence’.

Emergency services were called to a Tolima Dr home on Mount Tamborine – just outside the Gold Coast – after reports that a man had been found unconscious just after noon on Thursday.

When they arrived at the scene, a 37-year-old man who lives in the suburb was found dead in the living room of the house.

Queensland Police Detective Inspector Chris Knight told media on Friday morning that the man had suffered fatal head and upper body injuries.

A murder investigation is underway after a man was found dead at his home in Tamborine Mountain on the Gold Coast, with police stating the scene showed ‘clear signs of violence’

“The gentleman found was a 37-year-old father of two young children,” he said.

His life ended tragically in his own home.

“We are appealing to the public to try to locate the person or persons responsible for this matter.”

Specialist scientific and forensic officers were on site for nearly 24 hours at the time of the media conference, with Mr Knight saying they are likely to be there for several days.

“When the first responders arrived, it was very clear that violence had been committed against the gentleman,” he said.

His ex-partner went to the address, and sadly faced with that scene, she contacted triple-zero.

“She was there to check on his well-being, hadn’t heard from him in a few days, but she’s a grieving woman.

“She has spent many hours with detectives and is helping us tremendously.

“(They) were still in touch, they were still in a relationship.”

Knight said it’s possible the victim knew the perpetrators, but added that the investigation is still in its infancy.

Investigators are calling on anyone with relevant information, CCTV footage or dashcam visibility in the vicinity of Tolima Dr, especially on June 28, to come forward.
