- Chicken catches five waves in each session and ‘loves it’
A body-surfing hen, named Mrs. Chook, is causing a sensation among beachgoers by catching five waves every other day.
Most chickens would cry if thrown into the ocean, but according to owner Elaine Janes, Ms Chook developed a love of the sea during the Covid lockdowns.
“Don’t rush (the chickens) and throw them away,” Ms Janes told 9News.
You just take them out for little walks in the water.
“And next time you could go a little further, a little slow intro.”
Ms. Chook spends time in the ocean every other day and catches five waves each session.
Mrs. Janes takes Mrs. Chook to Victoria’s Ocean Grove beach, which is located south-east of Geelong, to catch the waves.
The aquatic chicken has become a local favorite and has even been featured in TikTok videos.
After a surf session, Ms. Chook is given a shower, a warm towel, and sometimes even a blow dryer to make sure her feathers don’t ruffle.
Mrs. Janes insists that Mrs. Chook loves to ride waves.
“You can’t chok like water, particularly the ocean, but this one has a passion,” he said.
‘He is passionate about being in the water and he is passionate about body surfing. Just take a look at her face, it’s pure joy, happiness, joy.’
