Weatherman Sam Mac has paid a heartwarming tribute to his fiancée Rebecca James and her newborn daughter.
The 42-year-old Channel Seven star wrote a lengthy poem to his growing family after welcoming his second child, a girl named Mabel, with Bec on Thursday.
Sam shared an intimate photo of Rebecca breastfeeding the couple’s newest family member via Instagram on Friday, writing, “This is my sweet Rebecca just minutes after giving birth.”
‘My girls are asleep so I had a moment to gather my thoughts and start processing how lucky I am. I wrote this piece as a tribute to Rebecca and all the incredible mothers out there. We love you and would be nothing without you….’
‘Dear Mabel, You will read this one day, when the time is right. But I want you to know what happened that night.
‘Your mother was stretched & poked & prodded. There were strings & injections & your mother just nodded.
‘She held my hand as it went on and on. Your mother was calm, your mother was strong.
‘Your mother stopped talking, words were left unspoken. Your mother surrendered on that hospital bed.’

“She gave her body over, that was what she had to do. Your mother did this so we could meet you,” Sam continued, recounting the birth from his perspective.
‘Pushing & breathing with extensive sighs. Your mother began to speak with her eyes.
‘Her eyes spoke of pain, her eyes spoke of love. Her eyes said we had waited long enough.
‘There you were, our sweet little girl. The tiniest cry and you were born.
‘You were perfect, it was love at first sight. But I want you to know what happened that night.
“Now and forever, we will take care of each other. I just want you to know the strength of your mother.”

The television personality confirmed the happy baby news on Instagram on Thursday, sharing a heartwarming photo of herself holding their newborn and revealing her name: Mabel August McMillan.
Sam welcomed their daughter on Wednesday night, after announcing Rebecca’s pregnancy in February.
His announcement was flooded with hundreds of likes, congratulations and well-wishes from friends, family and fans.
“You all look remarkably refreshed. Enjoy this wonderful time x,” wrote his Channel Seven colleague Edwina Bartholomew.

Sam and Rebecca announced in February that they were expecting a baby, but kept the gender of their child a secret.
He was excited about the news, writing: ‘Baby Mac’ (the sequel) premieres August 2024. Starring Margot as the big sister #MacDaddy #Round2.’
Sam announced in December 2023 that the couple tied the knot.
Sam shared the good news on Instagram at the time, along with a photo of Rebecca showing off her diamond engagement ring.
The presenter gave a sneak peek into the proposal, writing in the caption: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, my fiancé! She said yes.
“My secret New Year’s resolution for 2023 was to propose to my sweetheart Rebecca sometime this year. So I guess that’s what you’d call a buzzer beater.”
“She’s calm, strong, and unintentionally funny. She’s super smart and a total knockout beauty. She makes me a better man.”
He continued, “Earlier this morning, in front of her parents and brother… I told her I’m in love with every version of her and asked her to be mine forever, and she said yes.”

Announcing the joyous news, Sam wrote, “This is a love I didn’t even know existed. I’m overwhelmed and still processing it. My girls. Wow.”
In December, Sam returned to television after taking a month off from the series so he could focus on fatherhood.
The presenter announced a month earlier that he was quitting his duties as presenter due to paternity leave.
Sam decided to let his stylist Rebecca go back to work for the first time since giving birth a year early.
In an interview with New Idea magazine, Sam praised Sunrise for his support and said he was “so grateful” for the opportunity to take time out for his family.
“I worry that I am one of those parents who is too busy with work to fully experience all the milestones with their child.”
“I love my job, but I’m away from home a lot. I can already see what I’m missing in Margot’s development,” Sam admitted.
