Sunrise star Matt Doran causes chaos during his final day of work at Seven after his shock on-air resignation

Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran made a hilarious joke during his final broadcast on Sunday.

The breakfast presenter, 41, took on the role of a traveling reporter before signing off for the final time and exploring different parts of the studio as Mark Beretta and Monique Wright presented the show.

At one point, Matt manned the autocue station while his colleagues talked directly to the camera.

“Matt is here and honestly we’re a little overwhelmed. This is a moment in history. How do you say goodbye to such a living legend and absolute master?’ Monique read while another camera showed Matt furiously typing on the teleprompter.

“He’s so handsome – oh, I see, he’s writing this. He is clearly superior to me as a journalist. I can’t adequately convey it in words.’

‘I actually feel compelled to dance. Strike, maestro!’ she said, before the studio erupted in laughter.

Doran ended his five years at Weekend Sunrise.

He made the emotional announcement live at the end of the show late last month.

The Seven star recently opened up about his struggles with depression on The Morning Show.

He said he will take time to focus on his family and pursue other opportunities.

“Before we leave today, just some breaking news from the Doran household,” the host began.

‘I want to share with you a decision that I have made, with my beautiful wife Kendall – and of course in earnest consultation with our beloved Italian Greyhound Murphy – and this is, after five years at Weekend Sunrise, I will end at the end of the years,” he said.

‘This is something I’ve been concerned about because it’s fair to say this is one of the best jobs in the world, but we think it’s right and at the right time – for our little family.

“Even though I’m sad, and I’m doing everything I can right now not to look Monique in the eye, where I am right now is honestly a place of incredible gratitude for the laughs, the lessons, the tears.

“It is my unwavering belief that this role – specifically telling people’s most intimate, most personal stories – is one of the most privileged positions on earth.”

The breakfast show host broke down in tears as he spoke about his friendship with his close colleague.

“Maan, you’re not just a colleague, you’re my best friend and I’m going to miss you, any chance for a hug?” he said.

In September – when Matt appeared on Morning Sunrise to launch his latest book, Mental State, about Australia’s mental health system – he bravely opened up about his own struggles with depression.

“Do you think it will get better, Doctor, if we raise our hands like you and say, ‘I have anxiety’?” Matt asked Dr. Cross.

‘I’ve also had huge problems with depression in recent years, but people are still, I think, afraid to come forward and say that.’

“It’s amazing that you say the more we talk about it, the better it is,” Dr. Cross said, praising Matt for speaking so openly about his depression on television.

Matt has sparked concern in recent years after mysteriously disappearing from work twice.

In June he failed to get to the Seven studios for work on Weekend Sunrise.

He was replaced by news reporter Chris Reason, who returned to host the breakfast show with Monique on Saturday, June 8.

A network spokesperson told Ny Breaking Australia at the time that Matt was “on leave.”

A major Channel Seven star has been tipped to replace Doran following his shock on-air sacking.

Seven’s US correspondent David Woiwod, who lives in Los Angeles, is likely to take on the co-hosting role alongside Monique Wright, according to news.com.au.
